About the area

Devizes nestles amoungst the unspoilt countryside of North Wiltshire. Its close to Bath, Swindon, Salisbury and Chippenham but also easy access to the villages and the nearby Marlborough Downs for long walks and cycling.

Shops

Devizes is a real gem of a town. The local Wadworths Brewery adds to its charm. Weekly market offers country foods and antiques.

Shops range from traditional to High Street. Boasting a Marks & Spencers Foodhall, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Boots & Woolworths.

Schools

When it comes to education you will find no over crowded classrooms. As well as numerous Primary Schools, Nurseries and the Devizes Comprehensive School has achieved specialist status in sport.

Transport

Destinations by local bus to Swindon, Bath, Chippenham and Melksham and surrounding villages.

By car the M4 junction 17 is only 20 minutes, approx 15 miles away, which provides train services to Bristol in under one hour, Bath 45 minutes and services to London and Paddington 1¾ hours.

Health

St James Surgery that currently have plenty of vacancies for new customers is in the town by Sainsburys.

Nearest dentists are in the market place and the nearest Hospitals are Salisbury, Swindon and Bath.

Leisure

Devizes has a Museum and at the Wharf you will find a museum devoted to the history of the Kennett and Avon Canal. It tells the story of the waterway from 1794 to the present day.

On the Devizes to Marlborough Road there is a Golf Club (Blacklands) with leisure facilities. There is also leisure facilities within Devizes town itself.

Devizes also has a small cinema regularly showing all the new feature films.
