FirstBuy is a government-backed equity loan scheme which helps first time buyers like you onto the property ladder. The FirstBuy scheme is a great alternative to shared ownership. It works through a joint loan of 20% of the purchase price of your new home from the Government and Taylor Wimpey. You then only need to put down a 5% deposit, secure a 75% loan-to-value first time buyer mortgage, and you will own 100% of your new home. The loan is then paid back at the end of the 25 year mortgage term or when the property is sold.
