Downsizing keeps it in the family in Kilmarnock! |
26 April, 2012
With his move to a beautiful four bedroom detached Fairbairn at Taylor Wimpey’s Dunsmuir Park in Kilmarnock just completed a few weeks ago, Gordon Mathewson (60) and his wife Ann (58) wished they’d downsized years ago.
After regularly visiting one of his sons for several years at his new home in an earlier phase of Taylor Wimpey’s Dunsmuir Park in Kilmarnock, the couple decided to take the plunge and make their move to a new home on the latest phase of this popular development and completed their move just a few weeks ago as Gordon, a print finishing manager in Kilmarnock explains: “We’d stayed in a larger, older property in Kilmarnock for 19 years. But our family of two sons has grown up and moved out, and both my wife Ann and I felt as though we were rattling around in the old house.
“Our old property was vast with five big bedrooms and extensive living space, as well as a massive garden, and it was beginning to get really difficult to stay on top of the work the ongoing maintenance required. It was at this point we decided we needed to downsize.
“On one of our regular trips to visit our son Paul, who lives in an earlier phase of this development, we decided to pop down to the new showhomes just to see what was available. We loved the style and the design of the houses and everything just felt right.
“We had originally thought we would down-size to a three bedroom house but then felt that was perhaps a step too far from our extensive five bedroom property. So when we saw the four bedroom Fairbairn we just felt it was our perfect house.
“The fact you can literally just move-in and there’s no maintenance to worry about is a real benefit! Everything’s so fresh and clean – it just makes living here so easy. And we’ve also seen a big difference already with our fuel bills. Although we’ve only just moved in, we’ve been advised we’ll be on a much lower monthly cost for our gas and electricity so that’s an added benefit that we hadn’t really factored into our move!
“We’re just over the moon with our new Taylor Wimpey home – our house is perfection and we wish that we’d made this move years ago! In fact our son is already jealous and I think he’d secretly like to do a house swap!”
Moving home has been a stress-free and enjoyable experience with Taylor Wimpey as Gordon adds: “The team here at Dunsmuir Park has been absolutely brilliant. It’s always daunting when you decide to move – it’s not something you tend to do regularly - so you’re always looking for reassurance and assistance along the way.
“Our sales executive Elaine’s been brilliant and has been really helpful throughout the whole process – she was able to tailor-make a helpful incentive package that suited us and made our move possible. She kept us fully informed on the progress of our purchase, and she’s always very friendly and approachable if we need to ask her anything.
“The site team has also been first-class! We’ve only had a couple of minor snagging issues with our house – which you’d almost expect with a new house - so we’re delighted.”
Dunsmuir Park, located just off John Walker Drive, offers an impressive new development of 49 two, three and four bedroom family homes from Taylor Wimpey’s new ‘Scotland’ range. With a choice of eight house styles, this development offers an impressive range of new homes to suit a wide range of buyers wherever you are on the property ladder, and prices start from £115,000 (£92,000 with shared equity).
Whether you’re a first time buyer and desperate to get on the property ladder, or a homeowner looking for your next move, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland is offering buyers a choice of incentives to get them on the move this Spring to its Dunsmuir Park development in Kilmarnock.
Buyers can choose from Taylor Wimpey’s Shared Equity or Part-Exchange scheme depending on which incentive best suits their circumstances. And to snap up the development’s star buy plot – a two bedroom Andrew with either incentive - buyers need a deposit of just £5,750 to take that first step to their next move.
Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, comments: “Buyers choose to move to a new home for all sorts of reasons, and we’re delighted that Gordon and Ann Mathewson are enjoying their new lease of life in their new home at Dunsmuir Park.
“At Taylor Wimpey we recognise that buying a home can be a financially daunting prospect for many and perhaps a challenging time, so our sales executives offer buyers a great deal of support throughout the whole process whilst aiming to tailor-make a moving solution that’s right for a buyer to realise their dream to move to a new home.
“Currently, the availability of both our Shared Equity and Part Exchange schemes on selected plots at Dunsmuir Park offers an excellent opportunity for buyers to consider buying a new home perhaps sooner than they’d imagined, so it’s a great time to visit the development to find out more whilst having a look around the new showhomes.”
