We have an opportunity for a Bricklayer to join the Production Team at Taylor Wimpey.


Bricklayers build and repair walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative stonework. If you enjoy doing practical things and you are interested in construction, this could be the perfect job for you.


The successful candidate will need to be able to read plans. You’ll also need to be able to work in a well organised way.


We are looking for a dynamic Bricklayer who is willing to develop a successful career within Taylor Wimpey.


This role will give you the exposure to a fast paced, vibrant environment.


The Role:

  • Measuring the work area and setting out the first rows of bricks (courses) and the damp course

  • Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer

  • Laying the bricks on top of each other and applying the mortar with a trowel

  • Shaping and trimming bricks using hammers, chisels and power tools

  • Checking that courses are straight using water or laser spirit levels and plumb lines

  • Lay bricks, stone and other masonry units in building chimneys and fireplaces, patios, walls or walkways.

  • Read and interpret the sketches and blueprints.

  • Install firebricks in chimneys and other furnaces and incinerators.

  • Cut and trim bricks using hammers or chisels or masonry saws and other hand and power tools

  • Lining or relining furnaces and boilers, kilns and similar installations using acid-resistant bricks, concretes, plastics or other materials

  • Restoring, cleaning or painting existing brick structures


The Person:

  • The ability to work in a well organised and accurate way

  • Good practical skills

  • An awareness of safety issues, especially when working at heights and carrying loads

  • The ability to work as part of a team and with other tradespeople

  • Can read and interpret drawings and blueprints

  • Can work manually or with hand and power tools

  • Knowledge with the properties of various mortars and other bonding materials and applies the knowledge in different projects

  • Ability to solve problems with the use of various materials and methods

  • CSCS card


In order to be successful in this role you must be able to prove eligibility to work in the UK.
