We helped fly the flag for fundraising at St George’s Day garden party
We were proud to sponsor a St George’s Day garden party in Bedfordshire which raised money for three fantastic good causes.

Day event sponsored by Taylor Wimpey.
Organisers of the event, which was held in a marquee at Flitton and Greenfield Playing Field on the evening of Saturday 23rd April, hoped to raise up to £6,000 to be split between Help for Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Support and Keech Hospice Care, based in Luton.
This was the fourth St George’s Day Grand Garden Party, after hugely successful events in 2012 and 2014 and we were delighted to be the event’s main sponsor, donating £1,200 towards its running costs.
Organiser Carl Lowe says: “It’s just grown in size each year we’ve organised it and we completely sold out this year, which was fantastic.
“There was a Pimm’s reception, a three-course meal, live music and a DJ, a charity auction and raffle – all for some great causes.
“I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for agreeing to be our main sponsor – made such a difference to the amount we could raise for each of the charities.”
Carl is a trained chef and, along with the support of a six-strong team of fellow volunteers, prepared the food for all 361 guests at the event
There were also some fantastic items up for bidding at the charity auction including a helicopter ride and a Land Rover experience including a night’s stay and dinner at Luton Hoo.
Gareth Jacob, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We were delighted to sponsor this fantastic event which raised funds for three great causes.
“As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our high-quality new homes and this is a great example of how we can help.
“We’d like to congratulate Carl and his team on a successful evening and hope our donation helped them reach their fundraising target.”
Elizabeth is loving life in a larger home at Steppingley Gardens
“I was keen to find somewhere with a bit more space and I decided that the ‘Midford’ at Steppingley Gardens was the right house for me. Lots of other housebuilders weren’t offering homes with garages, so that fact that I could get this here was a big draw, as I needed extra space for storage.
“The staff in the sales office were absolutely fantastic and they really convinced me to buy the house. They gave me close attention and kept in touch with me throughout the entire buying process.
“I was very impressed by the layout of Steppingley Gardens. It’s a well-thought out development with a nice mix of housetypes.
“I’m really pleased with the position of the house within the development also – the neighbours are very friendly and there is a lovely community feel.
“The Help to Buy scheme was explained really well to me. It was great to buy the house that I wanted at an affordable price.
“I’m really enjoying being here. I was originally looking for a house that I could fix up, but buying new has been so nice. There are a number of stores close by, and I know that Taylor Wimpey is working to provide further facilities on the development, including a playground for the children
“I work in IT in London and I am happy with my commute as there are some good road connections near the development.
“I’d like to say thank you to Taylor Wimpey for helping me to find the right home – I’m so happy with my decision!”
