The area has a surprising number of tourists, many of whom visit Center Parcs Woburn Forest, just north of Flitwick, the stately home of Woburn Abbey and the fabulous Woburn Safari Park, which is less than five miles away from Steppingley Gardens by road.

We helped fly the flag for fundraising at St George’s Day garden party

We were proud to sponsor a St George’s Day garden party in Bedfordshire which raised money for three fantastic good causes.

Organisers of the event, which was held in a marquee at Flitton and Greenfield Playing Field on the evening of Saturday 23rd April, hoped to raise up to £6,000 to be split between Help for Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Support and Keech Hospice Care, based in Luton.

This was the fourth St George’s Day Grand Garden Party, after hugely successful events in 2012 and 2014 and we were delighted to be the event’s main sponsor, donating £1,200 towards its running costs.

Organiser Carl Lowe says: “It’s just grown in size each year we’ve organised it and we completely sold out this year, which was fantastic.

“There was a Pimm’s reception, a three-course meal, live music and a DJ, a charity auction and raffle – all for some great causes.

“I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for agreeing to be our main sponsor – made such a difference to the amount we could raise for each of the charities.”

Carl is a trained chef and, along with the support of a six-strong team of fellow volunteers, prepared the food for all 361 guests at the event

There were also some fantastic items up for bidding at the charity auction including a helicopter ride and a Land Rover experience including a night’s stay and dinner at Luton Hoo.
