Children at Green Ridge Primary Academy celebrate World Book Day with Taylor Wimpey

Children at Green Ridge Primary Academy were treated to storytelling sessions from the Sales Manager at Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, to mark World Book Day which took place on Thursday 7th March.

A reading of Taylor Wimpey’s first ever children’s book ‘How we build your home with Millie Mortar and Handy Andy’, which aims to educate children about the house building process, was performed to two Year 1 classes of 30 children.

The school in Aylesbury also received a £300 donation from Taylor Wimpey to purchase new books for the children.

Now in its 22nd year, World Book Day is a celebration of reading and aims to encourage children and young adults to come together to explore the pleasure of books.

Nikki Mackie, Assistant Headteacher at Green Ridge Primary Academy, said: “Reading is such an important life skill and something that we encourage all of our pupils to do more of. The children were thrilled to have Louise visit and learn about the stages to building a home. Having new books to get stuck into helps to keep up an enthusiasm for reading in children and we would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their kind donation. We can’t wait to add to our library and share new stories with each other.”

Louise Ballman, Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, said: “Books are a fantastic way for children to learn about the world around them and to feed their imaginations. We were delighted to visit the children at Green Ridge Primary Academy to read and celebrate World Book Day with them. We hope that with our donation the children can stretch their imagination for hours.”

Help to Buy: Equity Loan

This is one of just a few homes that is still eligible for the current Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, which is open to both first time buyers and existing homeowners and means you'll need just 5% deposit to buy a new home. From April 2021, the price cap for Help to Buy will depend on the area you live in, and the scheme will be offered exclusively to first time buyers.

With the current Help to Buy scheme, the Government will lend you up to 20% of the value of your new build home via an equity loan. You will need to secure up to a 75% mortgage and put down a 5% deposit. You’ll own 100% of your home from day one.

Find out more about how the Help to Buy scheme works.

Help to Buy: Equity Loan – Terms and conditions apply. Applicants should seek independent financial advice, and get information and guidance on applying for a Help to Buy: Equity Loan at www.helptobuy.gov.uk.
