Located east of Liverpool along the River Mersey, and with beautiful Cheshire countryside on the doorstep, it’s a lovely and convenient location to call home.

Directly to the south, across the Mersey is the town of Runcorn. Runcorn offers great local amenities and a range of shops and leisure amenities. The pretty village of Frodsham is just a few miles away, offering a selection of boutiques, bars and fine dining. Upstream and 8 miles (13 km) to the east is the town of Warrington, and downstream to the west is Speke, part of the city of Liverpool. Liverpool is a world-famous city offering everything you’d expect from a modern metropolis alongside all of the culture, history, architecture and art that make it one of the most fascinating cities in the UK.

Widnes and Hough Green railway stations are on the Liverpool to Manchester line so you are ideally placed if you are working or studying in these two cities, or if you just enjoy the convenience of having city life while you enjoy a suburban lifestyle. The main roads through the town are the A557 in a north–south direction and the A562 east–west. Primary schools include Cronton Church of England or Holy Family Catholic Primary School. Secondary schools include Rainhill High School or Wade Deacon High School and Cronton Sixth Form college is close by.

Taylor Wimpey gives students a lesson in construction

A group of budding young construction students from Riverside College, in Widnes, have furthered their learning thanks to Taylor Wimpey.

The 16 and 17 year olds were given an exclusive tour of the homebuilder’s Norlands Green development, which is currently in the process of being built.

Sam Heyes, brickwork lecturer at Riverside College, comments: “Construction is a very practical subject, so it is vital for us that the students are able to gain some proper context into what they’re learning in order to better prepare themselves for the world of work.

“We approached a number of local homebuilders to see if they could help out and Taylor Wimpey really came through for us.”

The students were able to learn essential lessons in how building sites are set up and organised, as well as basic health and safety and site management. They will use these skills to help them gain employment as apprentices and, ultimately, achieve their construction NVQ.

Stuart Craig, head of sales at Taylor Wimpey North West, comments: “Skilled construction workers are the backbone of Taylor Wimpey, working tirelessly to build our high-quality homes for future residents.

“It’s incredibly important to us that we support the next generation of talent and who knows, they may even find themselves working on a Taylor Wimpey site in the future.”

Sam concludes: “We would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for its help. The students had a fantastic time and this experience will go a huge way to furthering their education and future careers.”

With Home Reach, you buy a share of your chosen home and pay a low monthly rent on the part you don't buy. You get to choose whether you buy a bigger share of a lower priced home or a smaller share of a more expensive one.

With the Taylor Wimpey partnership you can initially purchase between 50% and 75% of your chosen home and heylo will become your landlord, granting you a 125-year lease.
