Community benefits from the development

Tupton Primary and Nursery School in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, recently received a £500 donation towards the school’s Early Years reading programme and World Book Day activity from homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey.

 

Working with the local English Hub, Tupton Primary and Nursery school has launched a new way of teaching phonics and reading with its Early Years project.

 

A launch event recently saw parents visit the school with their children to learn more about the project and collect their Early Years goody bag, with items consisting of books for bedtime reading at home, teddies, torches, hot chocolate and more.

 

Headteacher, Katherine Richards, commented: “We’re enormously grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s contribution to our Early Years reading initiative and their help has allowed us to produce fantastic goody bags which our children can take home and get excited about reading again.”

 

“Taylor Wimpey has previously been kind to us, holding a health and safety talk in 2018 which was a new, exciting lesson for our pupils. The contribution to our new reading project is the latest way in which we’ve benefitted and a huge thank you goes out from the whole school.”

 

Alongside the Early Years reading project, Taylor Wimpey donated to Tupton Primary’s World Book Day activity, allowing the school to purchase new reading material for its pupils.
