Wynyard’s West View project given developer’s backing
West View Project in Hartlepool has received a £500 cash boost from property developer Taylor Wimpey to help towards its community initiative in Wynyard.
The organisation, which currently hosts a number of outdoor learning initiatives across the region, has used the donation towards books, new hammocks and Gruffalo teddies for their younger members who they currently provide Gruffalo Adventures for; in line with the popular children’s book.
Claire Hodgson, youth worker at West View Project comments: “Outdoor learning is an extremely important part of what we do - and our Gruffalo Adventures have been so successful that they have now become a part of the national curriculum within schools.
“We work with the vast majority of schools in the region and do play schemes during the holidays for families; many of which take place at the forest neighbouring Taylor Wimpey’s Wynyard Manor development, so it’s great to have their support.”
West View Project was set up in 1980 by a group of local residents who wanted to create somewhere children in the region could play safely.
Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire comments: “West View Project’s entire ethos is amazing – and we completely agree with them in the sense that, being outdoors brings a whole new perspective to learning.
“The organisation’s Gruffalo Adventures actually take place right by Wynyard Manor, something which will no doubt be attracting many of our younger residents in due course.”
Claire concludes: “I would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation – it will go a long way.”
Taylor Wimpey has announced its sponsorship of Wynyard Village Football Club for the 2016 season
The club’s under sevens team will benefit from completely new kits, thanks to the company’s support of almost £400.
Graham Parry, Chairman of Wynyard Village Football Club, comments: “This is a very generous donation from Taylor Wimpey. We have eight teams as well as a Soccerskills Academy, so all community support is greatly appreciated.”
Wynyard Village Football Club currently has eight teams, ranging from under sevens, up to under 14s. The club was founded in 2004, and now has FA Charter status.
Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, adds: “Wynyard Village Football Club is based close to our Wynyard Manor development, so no doubt a number of our younger residents will be playing for the club’s different teams over the next few years.
“We’re delighted to support these young players and look forward to hearing about all of their successes.”
Graham concludes: “As we enter the coldest winter months, new kits are invaluable for the teams. We do rely on successful local businesses and it is incredibly rewarding when we are able to translate donations into fulfilling an immediate need such as this. We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this support.”
