Designed by architect Frank Whitmore, Severalls Hospital opened in 1913 and at its height could accommodate some 2,000 patients at any one time. The hospital closed in the early 1990's, although a small section remained open until 1997 as a temporary building for nearby Colchester General Hospital. By retaining some of the original buildings and a water tower at the site, the footprint of the hospital has been faithfully marked at Kingswood Heath.
This eagerly-anticipated development is surrounded by Essex's lush countryside and includes open spaces for residents to enjoy. The site also lies within easy reach of Colchester's thriving town centre with its vast selection of shopping and leisure opportunities.
Parents will appreciate the wide variety of schools and nurseries for children of all ages and the new primary school built as part of the development.
For commuters, Colchester Town railway station is less than two miles and the Colchester North Station is located nearby along with access to the A12.
