About the area

With several nearby towns all a similar distance from home you can enjoy shopping spots from Aldershot’s Wellington and Farnborough’s Princes Mead malls to characterful Farnham with its independent and stylish shops down Downing and Castle Streets and Lion and Lamb cobbled yard – all just 6 miles* from home.

Relaxation can be found at Hart Leisure Centre with its pool, state-of-the-art gym, studios and courts for squash and badminton, the place for a favourite activity or to take up a new one with swimming and dance lessons, sports courses and fitness classes.
Golfers will find welcoming golf clubs that make the most of the scenic backdrop of the landscape to inspire seasoned players and beginners, while Aldershot is home to Cineworld and the Princes Hall theatre with shows from tribute bands to comedy and pantomime. The local inns are as impressive as you would expect where hops were grown and dried for centuries, often with locally brewed ale and craft lager, stunning gardens for summer and log fires in winter. There are hostelries along the banks of the Basingstoke Canal, tucked away in the forest, or in next door village Dogmersfield, with the award-winning Exchequer ‘local’ in Crookham Village.
Explore the wider countryside and discover wine-tasting tours in vineyards nestling in the South Downs National Park. Close to home the Basingstoke Canal and River Hart offer pretty footpaths and towpaths for family walks and bike rides under old brick bridges with picnic spots to lunch and watch canoeists paddle by. Head to the sandy ‘beach’ of Fleet Pond’s huge lake or the coast for a day out in Bognor Regis, famous for its sunshine, beach walks, promenade, and traditional seaside fun. Winchfield and Fleet station services both run into London – fast trains from Fleet in 40 minutes† – while the M3 and major -routes offer direct travel across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, with Basingstoke 12 miles, Reading 17 miles, Wnchester 30 miles, and Heathrow 25 miles away.*
