    Alver Village is situated in Hampshire in the borough of Gosport – a former garrison town – on a peninsula jutting out into the Solent which is connected by ferry to Portsmouth. A Tesco supermarket is part of the development, perfect for the weekly shop and also bringing with it over 200 new jobs, there is also a brand new Aldi supermarket in Gosport. Meanwhile, you will find plenty of shopping, sports and leisure opportunities locally in Lee-on-the-Solent, Gosport and of course Portsmouth. In Gosport itself there are places to eat and drink, excellent museums and water sports galore.

    In Gosport you can enjoy High Street shopping in the town centre, specialist shopping in Stoke Road and the traditional seaside town charm of Lee-on-the-Solent. From Gosport hop across to Portsmouth on the ferry and you have endless shopping opportunities in the city centre and Southsea. The magnificent Gunwharf Quays on Portsmouth Harbour is retail and entertainment heaven, with its designer outlets, cinema, bowling alley, comedy club, fitness suite and fabulous waterside restaurants. There’s plenty more shopping to be enjoyed in the traditional market town of Fareham or why not visit Whiteley Shopping Centre off Junction 9 of the M27 - an exciting shopping venue with over 50 popular high street retailers and also offers a selection of well-known restaurants, cafes and also a brand new Cineworld cinema. 

    Travelling to and from Alver Village is easy by road, with Junction 11 of the M27 around 8 miles away. Easy access to the motorway makes it convenient for commuting into Portsmouth, Fareham or Southampton. Portsmouth can also be reached by passenger ferry from Gosport, which operates 7 days a week and takes about 7 minutes, which means you can connect with Portsmouth Harbour railway station, terminus of the Portsmouth direct line to London. The ferry can also be used by motorcycles. Your nearest national and international airport is at Southampton. With Fareham & Gosport Primary Care Trust less than a mile away and several dentists in the area, not to mention a pharmacy in Nimrod Drive for supplies and prescriptions, healthcare services are plentiful. Gosport War Memorial Hospital includes a Maternity Centre whilst Queen Alexandra is a general hospital with an emergency department.


    There is no shortage of schools for all ages in the immediate area. Siskin Junior School and Siskin Infant and Nursery School are actually located within the development. Several other junior and infant schools are less than a mile away, including Grange House Infant and Junior School. Bay House School was within The Times Top 200 state schools in the country and has a Sixth Form College. Brune Park Community College is a specialist Performing Arts College with a thriving Adult Education section, and Portsmouth University is highly regarded for further education. For the little ones the Gateway Pre-School is within easy reach.

    Heading Eastbound on M27

    Leave the M27 at Junction 11 and take the exit for A27 signposted Fareham Central/Gosport/A32. Continue for 1.5 miles and turn left onto Gosport Road/A32. After 0.5 miles continue onto Newgate Lane/B3385. Continue along Newgate Lane/B3385 going straight across two roundabouts. Continue on Newgate Lane until you reach Peel Common Roundabout, taking 1st exit onto Rowner Road/B3334. Continue for 1.4 miles going across one roundabout, then at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Grange Road. The sales information centre is on your right hand side.

    Local information

    Footballers from Gosport Borough are set to work with schoolchildren after winning funding.

    The football club, based in Privett Park, is already working with four schools in the area.

    Now The Football Conference Trust has handed the club £15,000 to open more schemes.

    Developing a community hub

    Rowner Community Hub will become a welcoming and sustainable high standard accommodation for community and social action in the Grange Ward.

    The aim is to improve the physical infrastructure available to the community by joining the Nimrod Community Centre (NCC) and the Rowner Youth Centre creating a built environment that raises aspirations whilst providing opportunities for local people.


    Our objectives are to improve the facilities for the local community groups; provide greater access to adult education and information and advice services. At the same time Rowner Community Trust want to develop more provision for vocational training and young peoples personal development.


    Alver Village scoops prestigious housebuilding award!

    We’re delighted to announce that Alver Village was named ‘Best Development of the Year (51+ units)’ at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Regional Building Excellence Awards on Thursday 3rd November 2016!

    The esteemed awards recognise achievements in the construction industry – rewarding excellent buildings, outstanding companies, and partnerships and individuals that go that extra mile.


    Pupils get safety message across in competition

    Arty pupils from a local primary school have been busy designing posters to highlight the dangers of playing on or near building sites.

    The youngsters from Siskin Junior School took part in the competition after having a visit in assembly from our team at Alver Village.

    Our staff gave a talk warning about the hazards that building sites can contain, before inviting the pupils to come up with a poster to convey this important message.

    We have now chosen the four winning designs by Balieah Bhoulari, Greg Grzegorz, Connery Meakes and Rebecca Hopkins of Years 3 to 6 respectively, which will now be displayed outside the development, opposite the school.

    The winners also won book vouchers worth £10 each, while the school has also been given book vouchers worth £150 as a thank you for supporting the competition.

    Roz Wells, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “We had lots of excellent entries from the pupils at Siskin Junior School and we were really impressed with the time and effort all the children put into the competition.

    “It was a really difficult job to judge the best entries, but the four winners stood out for us. Their designs conveyed the serious message about the dangers of building sites in a way which we hope will help other children understand too.”

    Amanda Wray, Assistant Headteacher at Siskin Junior School, says: “We thought the competition would really raise the profile of health and safety and we were really pleased with the uptake from the children. They’ve really engaged with the message.

    “We’ve been absolutely delighted with the partnership with Taylor Wimpey. They did a great job when they came out to talk to the children in assembly. We’re very appreciative of all the help and support we’ve been given.

     Chris Coupe and Joanne Castleton love the layout of the open-plan kitchen and lounge in their ‘Beckford’ property.

    “Gosport is an up-and-coming area now. Since Taylor Wimpey started building Alver Village, it has really turned things around. They got rid of some rundown, ugly blocks of flats and now there are some lovely new homes in their place which are very pleasing to the eye. What used to be plain, dull and grey is now really welcoming, and with some new green areas.

    “And since Taylor Wimpey came here, it has encouraged other redevelopment in the area – a new Tesco, Subway and community centre have all opened here now. It’s really improved. We also knew two other friends who had moved to the development and they spoke highly of the area and of Taylor Wimpey.

    “There are always lots of things going on in Gosport, the local amenities are really good and Fareham and Portsmouth are nearby too. It’s also on the coast, and there’s a ferry which can take you across to Portsmouth if and when you need it.

    “Going from a one-bedroom apartment to owning your own two-bedroom house is such a big improvement. A new-build home is a blank canvas and we’ve really enjoyed buying lots and lots and lots of things to decorate.

    “Without Help to Buy, there’s no way we would have been able to make this move. We just wouldn’t have been able to afford it, simple as that. Help to Buy made getting on the property ladder possible.

    “The whole thing, from initial viewing to getting the keys, only took about two-and-a-half months. The Sales Executives are real experts in their field and helped us with all the paperwork, which they knew like the back of their hands. They were faultless. If we ever had a query, they were always on the end of the phone. Nothing was too much trouble.

    “Even after moving in, their after-sales service is incredible. If we have any issues they are more than happy to help.”
