The town of Ashford has a large range of high street shops including Marks & Spencers, BHS and Boots, together with several traditional boutiques. Ashford is also home to the McArthur Glen designer outlet where there's something for everyone with a variety of fashion, jewellery, sportswear and beauty shops.

The education facilities in Ashford are excellent with a large number of primary and secondary schools in the vicinity. Ashford is also host to several Grammar schools and Colleges, offering higher education, and only a few miles from the prestigious University of Kent offering numerous courses and degrees.
Ashford has European Eurostar rail links together with more local trains to London Waterloo (40 mins). The development is less than 2 miles from the rail station. If you travel by car, the M20 (less than ½ mile) gives access to the M26, M25 and M23.


Repton Park is set in an ideal location on the outskirts of Ashford within easy reach of both the town centre and Kent's countryside. Family of three secures new home with Help to Buy

With help from the Government backed Help to Buy Scheme, existing homeowners Hannah and Ross Prebble were able to trade up from their two bedroom coach house in Ashford to a much more spacious three bedroom home at our Repton Park development. The couple were able to secure their new home with just a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage, with the remaining 20% provided as an equity loan by the Government.

Hannah, 26, and Ross, 25, wanted a hassle free move to a location that suited their busy working lives. Choosing a new build home seemed like the perfect option for the young couple as it meant that they could use the Help to Buy scheme to move up the property ladder and purchase a home that required very little effort once they had moved in. Our Repton Park development ticked all the boxes and the couple, along with their two year old daughter Poppy, moved into their new ‘Linnet’ home in December 2017.

Although the availability of the Help to Buy scheme was one of the deciding factors in choosing a new home at Repton Park, the location of the development was also a big draw. With a playground and selection of primary schools nearby, the couple are well placed to cater for Poppy’s needs as she grows up. With a range of shops, including a Waitrose, in close proximity the family are spoilt for choice when it comes to stocking up on the everyday essentials.

Hannah, who works as a hairdresser and a receptionist in Ashford, and Ross who works as a groundworker in Pluckley, said: “ The Help to Buy Scheme made the possibility of moving to a bigger home achievable for us. Without it we would have been stuck in our previous home for much longer while we saved up to afford a home big enough to fit our growing family. The sales executives at Taylor Wimpey couldn’t do enough to keep the process as simple as possible for us and really took the time to explain how the Help to Buy scheme could help us.

“I really love how peaceful the development is, yet we have everything we could possibly need on a daily basis. We’re really happy here and we can’t thank everyone at Taylor Wimpey enough for helping us to secure our new home.”

Repton Park is the perfect place to downsize for Glenda and Tony

When Glenda Boyd-Williams and her husband, Tony, were looking to downsize and move to Ashford, Kent, the brand new apartments at our Repton Park development proved to be exactly what they were looking for, with their innovative design and fantastic location.

In March, Glenda and Tony moved from their three-bedroom 1930s townhouse in Stratford-upon-Avon to a luxurious two-bedroom ‘Sanderling’ apartment in Repton Park, where they’re now relaxing into retirement.

Glenda says: “When we looked at the showhomes, the lovely apartment designs really impressed us and made us think more about our practical reasons for downsizing.

“An apartment suits our lifestyle as we didn’t want to maintain a big garden or deal with the upkeep of a period property anymore. Even though we’re both very healthy and fit now, both of us decided that a ground-floor apartment would be more convenient for us as we grow older.”

The couple love the countryside environment and buzz of Ashford but still get to experience city life by taking advantage of the fantastic travel links to London, as well as European destinations for holidays. With Ashford International nearby, they can reach Paris within two hours and visit the French capital as often as possible.

The couple also enjoy visiting London to see family or go to the theatre. It’s the best of both worlds with the perks of London being so accessible, while still appreciating rural life in Ashford.

Our Eggstravaganza campaign helped a children’s hospice in Sittingbourne!

We helped Demelza Hospice Care for Children in Sittingbourne to spread a little Easter cheer after donating 78 Easter eggs.

The charity, which has two hospices – Demelza Kent in Sittingbourne and Demelza South East London in Eltham – offers expert one-to-one care to children up to the age of 19.

The donation was all part of our national Eggstravaganza Campaign during which Taylor Wimpey employees donated Easter eggs to charities, homeless shelters and foodbanks across the UK.

Emma Middleton, Head of Events at Demelza Hospice Care for Children, says: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this kind donation.

“It was great to be able to provide Easter eggs for the children and families we care for and they really appreciated the gesture.

“We’re tried to collect as many eggs as possible from our supporters for a range of fun Easter activities which took place over the holiday period, and this donation was a fantastic contribution to that.”

Our donation helps hospice charity for children

Demelza Hospice Care for Children has received a donation from us to help provide vital care for seriously ill babies and children.

We have donated £500 to the charity to help fund expert nurses and care assistants who support children with life‑limiting or life‑threatening conditions.

Claire Ellis-Waghorn, Acting Director of Voluntary Income at Demelza, says: “As a charity, and not part of the NHS, we must raise over £10.5 million each year to continue providing care to families living in East Sussex, Kent and South East London.

“Taylor Wimpey’s kind gesture will ensure that Demelza can be there from the start, during day‑to‑day family life, times of crisis, and bereavement – not just for children and their parents, but for the wider family too. Every year we deliver this specialist care to hundreds of babies, children and young people.” 

The charity has two hospices – Demelza Kent in Sittingbourne and Demelza SEL in Eltham – where children up to the age of 19 receive expert, one-to-one care. This includes respite and symptom management, as well as life-enhancing therapies and facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool and a soft play room.

In East Sussex, the charity offers a hospice at home service, providing care and support in the comfort of a child’s own home.

Claire adds: “Taylor Wimpey has previously donated some of their showhome furniture to one of our charity shops and approached us to offer further support. We’re extremely grateful as it helps validate the work the hospice does in caring for special children.”

Youngsters’ welcome signs are a hit for new play spaces at Repton Park

Youngsters living in Ashford, Kent, have been putting their design skills to the test with a competition we organised in partnership with Persimmon Homes South East and Ashford Borough Council.

The contest invited children to create ‘welcome’ signs for three new play areas which are now open at Repton Park.

The winning entries have been selected and the creative artwork of Serena Swepston (aged 9) and Daisy Eland (aged 3) went on display in October. Serena’s entry was selected to create signs for both Birches Play Space and Oaks Play Space, while Daisy’s entry was installed at the Limes Row Play Space.

As well as having their artwork placed for all to see, the competition winners received a framed photograph of their design along with a £30 gift voucher.

Help to Buy is just the ticket for Hayley and Sean at Repton Park

Hayley O’Connor and Sean Earle were delighted to take advantage of the Help to Buy scheme, which helped them get on the property ladder at our popular Repton Park development.

The couple, along with their four-month-old son Bobby, moved into their brand new two-bedroom ‘Dunnock’ property in March 2016 – and were grateful for the sought-after initiative that made it all possible.

Under Help to Buy, eligible first-time buyers and those with a property to sell can access a Government loan for up to 20% of the price of their chosen property, meaning they require only a 75% loan-to-value mortgage and a 5% deposit. It is available with new-build homes priced up to £600,000 and there is no salary cap for those taking advantage of the scheme.

Hayley (28) says: “With Sean being self-employed we wouldn’t have had enough between us to get a regular mortgage, so Help to Buy was the financial boost we needed – without it we wouldn’t have been able to afford what we bought.The scheme was really easy as well, the Taylor Wimpey staff talked us through it all and everything went very smoothly. I was living in Croydon before and Sean was in Tenterden, so this was our first home together and we were so pleased that it all worked out.”

The couple are delighted with their new home, and were looking for a new-build property at this point in their lives. “Having just had a baby we wanted a nice two-bed that was within our budget, and it’s nice with a new build because you’re the first person to live there so everything’s your own – there’s no need for any DIY as everything’s all done!” adds Hayley.

“We also love having three bathrooms with the downstairs guest cloakroom as well as the en-suite and family bathroom – when you’ve got a little one that makes a big difference.

“We wanted to move to Repton Park because it’s a spacious development – the houses are nicely spread apart and there’s plenty of parking for us and visitors, so it doesn’t seem as cramped as other new-build estates.

“It also has a nice quiet feel to it – we’re not overlooked by other homes, we can just see trees, so it’s in a beautiful setting and the neighbours are really friendly. There’s also a nursery and school on site which will be handy for Bobby, as well as two parks.

“The good thing about Ashford is everything’s on your doorstep, such as a shopping centre, train station and supermarkets. It’s brilliant to have everything close by while I’m off on maternity leave, and we’re only five minutes from the M20 which is really handy as I have family in Surrey so it’s nice that they can just whizz up the motorway to visit us.”

Before they moved in the couple also took the opportunity to personalise their new home with additional high-specification items from our interior Options range.

“We got to pick our choice of tiling for the kitchen and bathrooms, which was great,” says Hayley. “We also went for a really nice cream carpet in many of the rooms while in the kitchen we decided to upgrade the units and go for a double oven.

“The Taylor Wimpey staff were fantastic throughout the whole process, constantly updating and advising us, and always there to pick up the phone, so we were delighted with how it all turned out.”


Repton Beavers and Cubs are raring to go camping thanks to a cash boost from us

Beavers and Cubs at the 1st Repton Scout Group in Ashford are looking forward to enjoying more camping trips this summer thanks to a cash boost from us.

We have lent our support to the group by donating £500 to help fund brand new camping equipment and resources.

Beavers and Cubs at 1st Repton Scout Group are looking forward to more camping trips

Kate Fyfe, Group Scout Leader, says: “We are a relatively new group with no funding and very little equipment – so it’s brilliant to have the support of a big company like Taylor Wimpey.”

The 1st Repton Scout Group – based at Repton Primary School – was established in November 2014 and so far has 24 Beavers and 15 Cubs. It is hoped that by the end of the year the group will have enough leaders to also be able to accept Scouts.

“We want our Cubs to stay with our group in Ashford rather than having to move into a new Scouts group elsewhere as they get older,” explains Kate. “Taylor Wimpey’s donation is absolutely fantastic and the money will certainly help us to grow.”

The £500 we donated will be used to purchase essential camping items including tables and chairs, cooking equipment and a cooking tent. Any money left over will be used to purchase crafts and other items for everyday use at the group.

“This donation will help cement everything that we do within the community,” continues Kate. “Now that we’re able to buy these new resources we can look at organising more camping trips for our Beavers and Cubs!

“Our aim is to keep children off the streets and give them an opportunity to learn new skills and become more independent in a fun and safe environment.

“We’d like to say big thank you to Taylor Wimpey – we really do appreciate their support. This donation will really benefit the local community and the new equipment we purchase will hopefully benefit lots more children for many years to come.”

The Coopers find the perfect place for a growing family thanks to Help to Buy at Repton Park

When they started thinking about having a family, Jo and Adam Cooper decided the time was right to try to step on the property ladder.

Thanks to the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme, the couple – who at the time were renting a two-bedroom flat in Ashford – realised that they could afford a brand new three-bedroom house at our development.

Without the 20% equity loan that the scheme enabled them to access, Adam says they would still be stuck renting, but instead, they were able to secure a new-build home with just a 75% loan-to-value mortgage and a 5% deposit.

Adam, a specialist podiatrist at Maidstone Hospital, says: “We were looking to buy somewhere to provide space for a family and Help to Buy meant we could get on the property ladder. We wouldn’t have been able to buy without it – we would still be saving.”

The couple decided to buy at Repton Park having spoken to friends already living in the area who recommended its great location. There’s easy access to shops and the motorway, while Repton Manor Primary School, which is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, is within walking distance.

Adam and Jo moved into their new home – a three-bedroom, three-storey ‘Lapwing’ semi-detached house – in August 2015, with plenty of time to get settled in before the arrival of baby Reuben in December.

“We really liked the layouts of the properties at Repton Park, and especially liked the top-floor master bedroom in the ‘Lapwing’ which is just a lovely room,” says Jo.

Adam adds: “We thought it was quite spacious for a three-bedroom house with a lot more room than other houses we looked out. We knew a few people in this area who said it was a good place to live and as we were thinking about having a family it’s good to know there’s a good school about five minutes’ walk away.”

The move itself went smoothly and the couple were very happy with the excellent customer service they received during the process.

Adam recalls: “It was all incredibly straightforward – a lot easier than we’d thought it would be. We haven’t had any problems with the house. Overall we’ve been really impressed with Taylor Wimpey. The staff are all really friendly.”

The couple are now enjoying life in their brand new home and settling into the new community at Repton Park.

Jo, who is currently on maternity leave from her job as a physiotherapist, says: “Nearly everywhere round us in this part of the development is finished and we’re meeting neighbours, which is lovely. There’s a really nice community feel.”



Slap band donation reflects our support for Walk to School Campaign

We are helping to shine a light on the importance of leaving the car at home and walking to school this autumn by supporting Walk to School Month. This takes place every October and encourages parents to walk their children to school instead of travelling by car.

We are working in partnership with schools to support the initiative by supplying pupils with high-visibility slap bands to wear during the darker autumn and winter months.

The aim of the campaign is to promote healthy lifestyles – especially in the light of growing concern about levels of childhood obesity and fitness – and reduce the number of vehicles on the roads.

We have provided 330 slap bands to encourage pupils at Repton Manor Primary School in Ashford to walk to school – and help keep them safe on the journey. It is part of a campaign that will see more than 12,000 slap bands provided to children across the country.

Children from Repton Manor Primary School were given the role of ‘official playground testers’ for the day as they officially opened a brand new play area at Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes’ Repton Park development in Ashford.

The pupils were invited by the leading housebuilders to try out the newly installed climbing frame, slide, and swings which are now in place and open to the public off Laurens Van Der Post Way.

The new Neighbourhood Equipped Area for Play (NEAP) is part of the 31-acre Linear Park at Repton Park, which also features a ‘Multi Goal’ sports area for football and basketball, seating and picnic areas, as well as green open space for informal recreation.

This is the last of three large areas of play designed and constructed for the residents at Repton Park to be opened. The first is located off Sir John Fogge Avenue in the northern area of the 120-acre development, while the second is also located off Laurens Van Der Post Way in the northern area of Repton Park.

These areas of play are in the process of being handed over by Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes to be managed and maintained by Ashford Borough Council.

Matt Rawling, Headteacher at Repton Manor Primary School, said the youngsters were delighted to be given the chance to put the new play area to the test.

He said: “The children had a fantastic time exploring the new playground at Repton Park and really revelled in their roles as official playground testers!

“I’d like to thank both Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon for giving us the opportunity to officially open this play area and I’m sure local youngsters will make the most of these great new facilities for many years to come.”

A Kent nursery has a new-look garden thanks to a donation from leading housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon.

The Repton Park Consortium -  made up of Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes – donated a piece of land near to the Repton Park development in Ashford to neighbouring Godinton Playschool, which is based at Godinton Village Hall on weekday mornings during school term times. 

The land forms part of the Playschool’s garden, which has had extensive work carried out on it, including the installation of new drainage, a new fence, artificial turf and new garden sheds. This work was supported by the consortium team and its sub-contractors.

Chair of Godinton Playschool, Kendall Gardner, says: “The garden looks absolutely fantastic and everyone is very excited about it.

“As we are a charity, all of the donations we get are gratefully received, and we’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon for gifting the land to us and to all of the companies which supported the work we have had done on the garden.”

Godinton Playschool has been running for 21 years and currently has around 40 children aged from two to four-and-a-half years old on roll.
