    Homes for sale

The village dates back to Roman times and has a distinctive round-towered Saxon church, one of only 124 examples in the country. Distinctively modern in character and outlook, Long Stratton is a large village with a growing community. Amply served by shops and services, Long Stratton is family-friendly and a good base for education, sports interests and lovers of the great outdoors.

The high street has a variety of shops to cater for everyday needs from getting the early morning milk to banking services. There is a shopping parade with a local Co-Op and stores for hardware and hairdressers amongst others, a handy Shell garage and a farmers' market which takes place regularly. With a library, pubs, doctors surgery, health centre, estate agents, restaurants and take-aways, together with a pharmacy, a bakery, a renowned fish and chip restaurant and numerous independent shops - everyone is provided for.

Families will be pleased to see the village caters well for education of all ages, with Manor Field infant School and nursery, and St Mary's Church of England Junior School, together with Long Stratton high School which received an effectiveness rating of 'Good' by Ofsted in 2014.

A football club and leisure centre provides the area with healthy interest and lovers of the outdoors will appreciate the English countryside on their doorstep.

Norwich - the fine cathedral city - is only 12 miles away with it's excellent cultural facilities including museums at the Castle, theatres, Sainsbury Art Centre at the UEA and so much more. There are excellent shopping facilities including one of the countries outstanding daily open markets in the heart of the City Centre.

A Taylor Wimpey home secured in two months for newly-engaged Andrew and Ash

    Andrew and Ash 01

Andrew Bright and fiancée Ash Bullman were celebrating their engagement in the Mexican sun when they made the life-changing decision to buy their first property together. Thanks to Taylor Wimpey the couple were able to find their dream home quickly and just eight weeks later had moved into a four-bedroom Midford at Tharston Meadow in the village of Tharston, Norfolk.

The couple, who had been renting a property in South Lopham for over a year, had dreamed of finding their perfect ‘forever home’ to buy together. Just a day after getting engaged in Mexico in March 2018 they decided to take the plunge, and after visiting Tharston Meadow Andrew and Ash soon settled on a traditional detached home.

Andrew said: “In the end, our choice was simple. We wanted a fresh, ‘hassle-free’ house which we could put our own stamp on, but be happy with whilst we decide what that stamp is. We also wanted a spacious home where we have enough room for family and friends to visit. Ultimately that’s what Taylor Wimpey offered us.

“We chose a Midford housetype mainly because of the large kitchen-diner. We’re always entertaining so we needed that big social room and enough bedrooms for friends and family to stay with us. We have our own business so we’ve already turned one of our four bedrooms into an office. Our plot also has a large, south-facing garden, which is ideal for us.

“Being business owners, location was high-up on our list of priorities. We’ve got friends who already lived at Tharston Meadow so we knew it was in an idyllic village but with great local amenities close by. At Tharston Meadow we’re also just 15 minutes away from work and it’s only 20 minutes to Norwich.

"The buying process was so simple and easy. We reserved in March and moved to our lovely new home in May. We cannot thank Dawn and the Tharston Meadow sales team enough for their help and support. All we’ve ever wanted is to build a perfect life, so the perfect home had to come first. With Dawn’s help we had moved into our dream home within eight weeks of getting engaged.”

Taylor Wimpey East Anglia is proud to announce that seven of its site managers have won a prestigious NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award. NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award winner, Matt Sant, site manager at Tharston Meadow, said: “I first joined the Taylor Wimpey team 17 years ago as a site labourer and worked my way up to become a site manager. I’m honoured to have won my third Pride in Job Quality award. The team and I are immensely proud of the homes built at Tharston Meadow, we are delighted to have been recognised for our hard work by the NHBC in this way.”

    Help to Buy: Equity Loan

This is one of just a few homes that is still eligible for the current Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, which is open to both first time buyers and existing homeowners and means you'll need just 5% deposit to buy a new home. From April 2021, the price cap for Help to Buy will depend on the area you live in, and the scheme will be offered exclusively to first time buyers.

With the current Help to Buy scheme, the Government will lend you up to 20% of the value of your new build home via an equity loan. You will need to secure up to a 75% mortgage and put down a 5% deposit. You’ll own 100% of your home from day one.

Find out more about how the Help to Buy scheme works.

Help to Buy: Equity Loan – Terms and conditions apply. Applicants should seek independent financial advice, and get information and guidance on applying for a Help to Buy: Equity Loan at www.helptobuy.gov.uk.
