Cricket Club bowled over by support from homebuilder

Leading homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, is proud to announce it is sponsoring Malton and Old Malton Cricket Club for the 2017 season.

The club, which is located in the heart of Malton and close to Taylor Wimpey’s Broughton Manor development, will be investing in brand-new shirts for its junior division with the help of a £500 cash boost.

Joy Hudson, treasurer at the club, explains: “There are a lot of costs involved in running a club of this size and level – with nearly 80 members in the junior section alone, so we always welcome new sponsors.

“We’re delighted to have Taylor Wimpey on board. The new shirts look fantastic, so fingers crossed they bring us some luck for the season ahead.”

Malton and Old Malton Cricket Club is one of the largest clubs in the area and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Clubmark accredited. The Club has teams for all levels, including four senior teams and a thriving junior section.

Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, adds: “We’re thrilled to start this new partnership with the club and to be supporting such a fantastic organisation.

“We are always looking to give back to the local community and with one of our developments nearby, we were only too happy to help.”

The Broughton Manor development is located on Broughton Road and offers a selection of four-bedroom properties, starting from £249,950. Joy concludes: “On behalf of the whole club, we would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for this generous donation.”

Taylor Wimpey helps tidy up towns

Malton and Norton Tidy Group has received a donation of equipment to help in its quest to clean up the local area, from leading homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire.

The group is run entirely by volunteers who meet on a monthly basis to help clear up litter around the region, and the homebuilder has donated various pieces of equipment including brushes and shovels.

Antony Croser, co-founder of Malton and Norton Tidy Group, comments: “We formed the group a few years back with the intention of cleaning up the environment, and making it a much more attractive place to live.

“Since then, we have achieved so much and have even worked on various community garden projects. We tend to have around ten volunteers per litter-picking session, and have collected 143 bags of litter so far this year.”

Malton and Norton Tidy Group is run by local residents for local residents and was formed in 2009. The group is also supported by Streetscene of Ryedale District Council.

Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, explains: “Malton and Norton Tidy Group is based just a short distance from our Broughton Manor development, so it’s great to see the work that the team is doing for the whole community.

“As the group relies entirely on volunteers, we understand how difficult it must be to fund the essentials such as equipment, so we jumped at the chance to help out.”

Antony concludes: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Taylor Wimpey. We are incredibly grateful for the donation and hope to work with the company again in the not-too-distant future.”

Malton team scores with new kits

Old Malton 2Home-builder Taylor Wimpey is thrilled to announce it will be the 2014/2015 sponsor for the under 13s team at Old Malton St Mary’s Football Club

The club, which is based just a short distance from the home-builder’s Broughton Manor development, has received £500 for new kits for the coming season.

Marcus Lee, junior secretary and under 13s team manager, explains how vital donations like this are to the running of the club.

He said: “The help we have received from Taylor Wimpey has been amazing! The children in our under 13s are extremely grateful for their brand-new kits and can’t wait to kickstart the season this summer wearing them.”

Old Malton St Mary’s Football Club currently has six teams ranging from under sevens to under 13s.

Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire comments: “Learning to keep fit while having fun is an important part of growing up and we’re extremely excited to be getting involved with the club in their quest to encourage fitness from a young age.

“With our Broughton Manor development now taking shape in Malton, we’re delighted to be involved with the local community and hope this will be the start of a long and successful partnership with the club.”

Marcus concluded: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Taylor Wimpey on behalf of all from the club. Without donations like this our work just wouldn’t be possible.”

Taylor Wimpey partners with Malton School on Walk to School Month

Malton 7For Walk to School Month, which runs throughout October, Taylor Wimpey has provided 60 high-visibility wrist bands to Malton Community Primary School in order to encourage pupils to walk to school – and help keep them safe on the journey.

Childhood obesity levels are soaring, with a third of ten and 11-year-olds now classed as overweight or obese*; yet walking to school is one of the easiest ways for families to increase their levels of physical activity.

Debbie Whittingham, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey comments: “It’s astonishing that a third of Year six school children nationally are considered overweight or obese; yet just a small amount of physical activity, like walking to school, can make such a huge difference.

“We are committed to supporting the communities where we build our new homes, which is why we have donated 60 wrist bands to Malton Community Primary School.”

Walk to School Month is an annual nationwide campaign to promote the benefits of walking to school, therefore resulting in healthier young people and less traffic on the roads.

Miss Wilkinson, head teacher at Malton Community Primary School explains: “We encourage the children to walk to school to promote a healthier lifestyle; in addition to reducing traffic outside the school.  We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this generous donation which will help raise the profile of Walk to School Month amongst pupils and parents alike.”

Malton Community Primary School is based on Highfield Road – just a short distance from Taylor Wimpey’s Broughton Manor development.

Debbie concludes: “We understand that family life can be busy, but we hope our contribution will help inspire families in Malton to swap the car for a safe, fun stroll to school instead.”
