Happy homebuyers at Elderwood Park
First time buyers Jess Ross and Brad Malone set out on their house hunting journey earlier this year and have landed their dream home at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire’s Elderwood Park.
Despite beginning their search during the height of lockdown back in May 2020, by the end of June they had reserved a brand-new home at Elderwood Park in Hemlington.
Crediting high praise from friends already living at the development, unwavering support from the Taylor Wimpey sales team and being able to utilise the government backed Help-to-Buy scheme, the couple were able to reserve the three-bedroom, semi-detached Milldale home - something they really didn’t think would be possible.
Talking of their experience, Jess commented: “In the run up to finding our dream home at Elderwood Park we had looked online and driven around several other developments in the nearby area, but always left feeling like it wasn’t the place for us. Then a friend of ours, who already lives at Elderwood Park, suggested we take a look there.
“As cheesy as it is, the rest is history! We immediately logged on to the website and came across the three-bed Milldale which was the first house in our journey that seemed like it really ticked all of our boxes. We filled out the interest form and at this point we were introduced to sales executive, Ashleigh.
“Ashleigh could have not have been more helpful from day one if she tried and rather than advise us to travel two hours to the nearest Milldale show home, she arranged for us to safely visit a unbought Milldale plot so we could see first-hand what the development and the house had to offer.
“When we first went to look at the development we were really impressed with the finished houses. We liked that driveways were tarmacked, there were lots of nice green areas and the homes were spacious.
“Having reserved during the height of the first lockdown, there were times when we genuinely thought that our long-standing plans to buy our first home were shattered. Mortgage lenders had just started upping their deposits and this caused long delays in getting a mortgage offer – nine weeks to be exact! As a result, we didn’t exchange in the standard 28-day window but Ashleigh and the team were so supportive and patient and really held our hand throughout.”
The couple were able to benefit from the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme to secure their dream home, which enabled them to secure the property with just a five per cent deposit.
Jess added: “I am a bit of a worrier by nature and so I really can’t thank Ashleigh and the team enough for going above and beyond to reassure myself and Brad whenever we needed it.
“With the majority of the process taking place virtually, it’s amazing how seamless it has all been, Ashleigh responds to all calls and emails promptly and is full of knowledge, leaving nothing unanswered.”
Jess and Brad are now documenting their journey on Instagram (@taylorwimpey.milldale), sharing their experience from purchase and build to moving in.
