Bowls Club receives funding for brand new facility
Woodford cum Membris Bowls Club in Woodford Halse has received a £500 cash boost from us to help fund improvements to its facilities, including the construction of its first on-site changing rooms.
Woodford Cum Membris Bowls Club bowled over
by Taylor Wimpey's donation!
Linda Brassington, secretary for Woodford cum Membris Bowls Club, says: “When we decided to build some changing facilities we paid a visit to the Taylor Wimpey sales team at the Woodford Meadows development to ask if we could have a few bags of cement, but instead they offered us a £500 donation, which was very much welcomed by everyone at the club.
“We play for six months of the year, so we raised enough funds from membership subscriptions to carry out the main construction work, and Taylor Wimpey’s donation has covered the costs of purchasing some essentials which we needed to finish it.”
The lawn bowls club has been running for over 20 years and currently has around 30 members.
“We were pleased to be able to have the new facility finished in time for the new season, which started in April, with everybody at the club doing their bit to help out,” continues Linda.
“Taylor Wimpey’s donation has made a huge difference as this is the first time we’ve ever had changing rooms, so we’re extremely grateful.”
Gareth Jacob, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We feel it’s extremely important to invest in the communities where we build our homes, so we’re delighted to offer this donation to Woodford cum Membris Bowls Club.
“We hope the players really benefit from the new changing rooms, and wish them the best of luck in their new season!”
Woodford Meadows proves the perfect location for Angela and Paul
“We’d lived in the same house for 19 years and everything about moving home has changed since then, so the whole process was suddenly very new to us. We wanted guidance and support on how we could move into our new home while renting out the previous property we’d lived in.
“Susie at the Taylor Wimpey Sales Centre really helped to reassure us and tried to take as much stress as possible out of the moving process.
“Originally we had no intention of getting a new-build property. We were focusing on older properties, but the price and style of the Taylor Wimpey houses really swayed us.
“We’d grown out of our previous house and our kids are now teenagers so we needed more room, plus we have a dog so a good-sized garden with proper turf was a necessity.
“We wanted a fresh start, new furniture, and a lot more space! From the Taylor Wimpey interior Options range we opted for a brand new kitchen with granite surfaces, washing machines, fridges and dryers – which was the top option for the high specification features.
“We’re still nearby to Banbury so we get to enjoy being close to our familiar
surroundings while still being able to enjoy a new start. The layout of the house
and the good-sized rooms really caught our eye while we were looking around
the ‘Shelford’ showhome.
“Our two teenage sons had spent their whole lives in our old house, so our
youngest has gone from a tiny box-like room to suddenly being able to have a
king size bed! Paul wishes we’d done it years ago – he loves it!”
