    Ashington pupil wins Christmas story challenge

    Eight-year-old Mason from Bishop’s Primary School - Thomas Bewick in Ashington, has won a Christmas story challenge set by Taylor Wimpey North East in December 2020. 

    Asking pupils at the school to get creative ahead of 25 December, Taylor Wimpey set children the task of writing a one-hundred-word Christmas story.

    The winner of the challenge was promised the prize of a £50 Amazon gift voucher whilst all those who took part in the story writing competition would receive a book for their efforts.

    Year 4 pupil, Mason, wrote a thrilling tale around Santa Claus rescuing two young children trapped in the snow, which won the competition. Mum, Kirsty, comments: “Mason is overjoyed to have won the competition and took so much time thinking about and drafting his Christmas story.

    “It’s been brilliant to see his effort rewarded and reading the story made me proud. He’s over the moon that he has managed to win the gift voucher ahead of Christmas and it will be lovely to pick something out knowing that his creativity is what won the prize.”
