    Wansbeck Valley Foodbank receives welcome donation from Taylor Wimpey North East 

    Wansbeck Valley Foodbank in Morpeth has received a £500 donation from homebuilder Taylor Wimpey North East in order to help it in the run up to Christmas. 

    The largest independent foodbank in Northumberland, Wansbeck Valley takes pride in helping to relieve the consequences of poverty or financial hardship by providing food to the hungry.

    Its work to combat poverty and hunger in the area is increasingly important and it has recently benefitted from support from Taylor Wimpey, with the homebuilder identifying and contributing to foodbanks around its developments in the UK. 

    Linda Fugill, project manager at Wansbeck Valley Foodbank, commented: “Thank you to Taylor Wimpey North East for their contribution which will help sustain the work of the foodbank to feed those who are in crisis. This donation will make a real difference as we move into winter and face more uncertain times due to coronavirus.”

    Sarah Northcott, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North East, commented: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer our support with a contribution to the foodbank at a challenging time in the UK.

    Pupils from Morpeth All Saints C of E First School, in Morpeth, have been getting green-fingered by planting 250 daffodil bulbs at the homebuilders St Andrews Gardens development.

    The bulbs were planted with Taylor Wimpey North East as part of its national Proud campaign, demonstrating its ongoing commitment and pride in leaving a lasting legacy in the communities in which it builds.

    The planting took place on Thursday 25th October and the bulbs are set to grow into a bright, floral tribute to the local area. As well as pupils of the Morpeth All Saints C of E First School, members of the local Taylor Wimpey team also joined in with the planting.

    Kathleen Halliday, headteacher at Morpeth All Saints C of E First School comments: “It’s great to see a company like Taylor Wimpey think about the wider community while they are building in the local area and leave something beautiful behind. We all loved getting to work with our spades and can’t wait to see the results.”
