    Supporting local businesses & NHS during lockdown


    Taylor Wimpey North Midlands has supported local Shifnal restaurant, Christopher’s, to get up and running ahead of its launch as lockdown restrictions begin to ease across the UK. 

    On Sunday 28th June, the housebuilder paid for the restaurant to provide a free Sunday lunch service for NHS staff in and around Shifnal. The staff were able to choose from a selection of roasts, which they could then collect from the restaurant as a takeaway.

    Christopher Jordan, Owner, said: “We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s support ahead of our official launch. It felt amazing to be able to provide our frontline staff with a free meal and we served over 40 people during the day. 

    “The unprecedented closure of all restaurants in March has had a huge impact on the hospitality industry. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Taylor Wimpey for supporting our new local business venture.”

    Taylor Wimpey proud to donate £500 towards Shifnal Carnival

    Shifnal Carnival has announced that Taylor Wimpey North Midlands has supported this year’s event with a £500 donation towards the floats, live music, food as well as first aid and insurance.

    The carnival, which took place on Saturday 29th June, was supported by Taylor Wimpey North Midlands and other local businesses in the area. Local residents met at Admirals Close and travelled through Shifnal with the carnival, ending at the Village Hall.

    From live music and fresh buffet-food, to float judging and crowning the carnival Queen, there was plenty for residents to get involved with, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy a day full of Shifnal colour and culture.

    Commenting on the support received from Taylor Wimpey, Sarah Jones, from Shifnal Carnival, said: “Everyone who’s helped to organise this year’s carnival is over the moon with Taylor Wimpey’s contribution. There’s so much you need to prepare ahead of a big event and the £500 sponsorship boost has helped us massively. Taylor Wimpey’s support means a lot to not only us but the local residents of Shifnal town too.

    We help couple secure their first home in Shropshire with a 5% deposit

    Luke Gain, 24 and his partner Rebecca Thomas, 23 were delighted when their hunt for their first home together lead them to the spacious two-bedroom Canford property at our Scarlett Oaks development in Shifnal, which sits on the doorstep of the stunning Shropshire countryside.

    The couple, who were previously living at Rebecca’s parents in Telford whilst they saved for a deposit, were keen to move in to a place of their own. Wanting a location that was close enough to Luke’s job in Wolverhampton and Rebecca’s work in Telford whilst also benefitting from a scenic and well-connected area, Shifnal proved itself to be the ideal spot for the couple. After visiting many other properties, Luke and Rebecca quickly fell in love with our two-bedroom property, perfect for first time buyers or downsizers.

    Commenting on their experience buying, Rebecca said “The prospect of buying our first home together was both exciting and daunting. Taylor Wimpey were immediately welcoming and personal in their approach and made the whole buying process really easy for us. We found that the sales executives were extremely knowledgeable about the homes available and we could tell they genuinely wanted to help find the perfect house for us.“We moved into our new home in October 2018 and since then we have loved every minute. The location is perfect for us as it is in between both of our jobs and is just a short walk from the town centre of Shifnal.”

    After discussing their options with the sales team, Luke and Rebecca were able to utilise the Help to Buy scheme to move into their dream home. Luke Said: “The Canford instantly caught our attention as we both loved the layout. We visited another Taylor Wimpey development to view the Canford showhome and it really helped us visualise how we could maximise the space available. When moving into the house, the builders were very accommodating and were happy to help in any way they could. The house is well designed and has a high-quality finish and we love being so close to the Shropshire countryside.”


    As part of our development proposals for the application site, a range of contributions will be provided towards improving local facilities, services and infrastructure. These contributions will include:

    • Community Infrastructure Levy payments to the local authority at a rate of £40 per square metre for private dwellings
    • Travel contribution of £2,500 per dwelling

    This home is eligible under the Help to Buy: Equity Loan 2021 – 2023 scheme, which is open to first time buyers only and means you’ll need just 5% deposit to buy a new home.
