Trimley St Martin has a long history going back to prehistoric days, and local digs have produced evidence of various inhabitants including Roman, Anglo-Saxon and medieval folk. with such deep roots into the past the village is firmly established between the scenic estuaries of the River Deben and Orwell, surrounded as it is by beautiful East Anglian farming countryside.

Daily needs such as groceries and newspapers can be picked up in the village which prides itself on its community interests and groups such as dance, yoga, zen, basket weaving and toddler groups meeting regularly in and around the village. Nearby villages add their own amenities and interests to expand the choice of local leisure activities, and Felixstowe with its shops, cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants and entertainment brings a big towns aspect to what's going on.

Felixstowe is an Edwardian seaside town, with beach and pier and traditional seaside entertainments together with the Landguard fort built in the 17th Century and updated through two World Wars - now an English Heritage centre. Known for it's container port Felixstowe has shopping and amenities for all and enjoys the North Sea facing aspects of the area.

Ipswich in the opposite direction is the county town of Suffolk and is located on the River Orwell. an ancient town, possibly one of the oldest, it has grown, into a superb shopping and entertainment centre surrounded by shopping centres and parks with a splendid marina rivalling many on the south coast.

the surrounding wide outdoors and glorious coastal walks offer breath-taking scenery and fresh air, and together with golf courses, parks and facilities for fishing, horse riding and sailing this is a neighbourhood abundant in leisure activities.

Education is catered for with pre-school at Ofsted-registered Woodland Pals (www.woodlandpalspreschoolkirton.co.uk) at Kirton, and primary at  Trimley St Martin Primary School (http://www.trimleystmartinprimaryschool.com/), with secondary education at Felixstowe Academy (http://www.felixstoweacademy.org/).

Travel is easy with open roads leading East and West. Buses run regularly through the village, and for car drivers the A14 can take you to Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and beyond, as well as link with the A12 to take you South towards London or North along the coast to Great Yarmouth. Trimley train station is 1/2 mile away with Felixstowe station just 3 miles away, and Ipswich rail for London and Norwich 9.6 miles. If your travelling by air, Stansted is the nearest at only 56 miles away.
