Taylor Wimpey helps family find their perfect home
Humberto de Matos, 36, his wife Joana, 32, a dentist, and their six-month-old son, originally from Porto in Portugal have moved from a rental property in London and bought a three bedroom Byford home. The Byford available at Taylor Wimpey’s Herdwick Fold development in Shipston-on-Stour is priced from £302,000.
Speaking about their decision to pick a three-bedroom Byford house type, Humberto said: “We chose the Byford for two reasons. First was the fact that it has an en-suite in the main bedroom, but second and most important is the fact that the kitchen and living room are linked by a corridor which gives a sense of flow throughout the ground floor. We plan to open that corridor in the future by removing part of the wall separating the kitchen and living room, making it almost like a big open space. We envisioned it as soon as we saw the model home.”
Assistant Site Manager shares her passion for construction
In aid of International Women’s Day, we interviewed one of our Assistant Site Managers, Emily Langston, to find out about what drew Emily to a career in the housebuilding sector.
Born in Broadway, Worcestershire, Emily grew up in a farming family where she soon learned that she wanted a career that would encompass her love of the outdoors. Emily, now 22 years of age, said: “I wanted to find a role that challenged me and I think having the opportunity to build and create the most important place in a person’s life definitely sparked my interest. They say home is where the heart is and I think it's a great feeling to think you are building the foundations for so many memories”.
“I enjoy the variety the role brings as you have to be ready to manage and solve unforeseen challenges. My main responsibilities include health and safety monitoring, ensuring the build program is kept on schedule and quality checks. Having been at Herdwick Fold from the launch of the development a year ago, it has given me a great opportunity to be involved in setting up a site and seeing it grow”.
