Lenzie was built for convenience, designed as a commuter town for people travelling to Edinburgh and especially Glasgow. Edinburgh is 50 minutes away by train and Glasgow just 25 minutes.

Now Lenzie is a thriving small town and with a variety of sports clubs, golf courses, parks and shops, both individually and in Millersneuk Shopping Centre.  And of course the centre of Glasgow is within easy reach for an almost unlimited choice of shopping, leisure and entertainment opportunities.

There are lots of pretty walks locally, along the restored canal or in the wildlife sanctuary at Lenzie Moss, or perhaps up to Bar Hill Fort on the Roman Antonine Wall.

There are four primary schools, and the main secondary school for the town is the well-regarded Lenzie Academy.

Pupils from two primary schools in Lenzie have been given an exciting opportunity to adopt a plot at our development of new homes situated off Woodilee Road in Lenzie.

Youngsters from the Primary six/five classes at Lenzie and Lenzie Moss Primary Schools have joined forces to explore our local development during two site visits to learn all about how a house is built.

The first visit introduced the schoolchildren to the initial foundation stage of construction, which was explained to them by our Site Manager Jim Nelson, and followed a presentation in class to launch the project that also included some very important health and safety reminders of never to play near a construction site.

Audrey Ross, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, says: “We are delighted to be able to welcome the pupils from both primary schools in Lenzie along to our local development in Lenzie for an exciting insight into the build process of one of our homes.

“I hope the children enjoyed the first visit and that they are looking forward to seeing the house transform before their very eyes!”

The next visit to the development is due to take place before the end of the summer term, where the pupils will learn all about the sub-structure stage of construction when the roof is on, scaffolding is down and the internal walls have been installed, as well as taking the opportunity to visit the showhome once again to see a finished home in all its glory.

Class teacher at Lenzie Primary, Miss Duffy, says: “Our pupils thoroughly have enjoyed their visit to Taylor Wimpey’s construction site, asking lots of questions and learning about the building process. They also discussed the dangers of a building site with the site manager Jim and his team, and what they need to do to stay safe near the site. They are very much looking forward to going back to see the inside of the house when the roof is on and it is nearing completion before the summer holidays!”

Miss McLean, class teacher at Lenzie Moss Primary, adds:  “We’ve learnt so much already from the team at Taylor Wimpey, and the children are enjoying learning more about how new homes are built and seeing this process for themselves has engaged everyone in the class to get involved.  We’ve also added some fun tasks for the children such as creating their own floorplans for a new home, and we’ve set some maths challenges.  We’re all really looking forward to our next visit to see the progress that’s been made to our plot which will ultimately become someone’s new home which has also fascinated the children!”

We are delighted to announce our shirt sponsorship of four Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) Central Region development football squads for the next two years.  This successful group of squads with players aged from 13 years to 16 years play at pitches and stadiums right across the central region near several of Taylor Wimpey’s developments of new homes.

The first of the four teams proudly wearing their new strips.

Regional Chairman for the SYFA Central Region, John McCrimmond said:  “This is fantastic news for the SYFA Central Region. We’re thrilled to have Taylor Wimpey on board as our shirt sponsor for the next two years, and we are very grateful to have the support of such a prestigious company and brand, and we’re looking forward to our partnership over the next few years.”

Commenting on the deal, Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director said:  “Our shirt sponsorship of the four SYFA Central Region development squads underpins our commitment to support the wide range of communities where we build new homes, and we’re excited to be involved with the SYFA Central Region for the next two years.”
