Upgrade works to Springfield Road and Springhill Road, Barrhead.

April 2021

We are delighted to confirm that Springhill Road and Five Ways Junction have now reopened for users.  We would also like to advise the local community that some further works are necessary to complete the realignment of Springhill Road and we remain committed to those following the completion of the planned stage two works expected in late July 2021. The preparations for stage two of our programme, which will close a section of Springfield Road for approximately 16 weeks, are underway and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work, road closures and local diversions are likely to cause.  We will provide a further update within the next few weeks.

March 2020

We received planning permission from East Renfrewshire Council for the provision of 316 new homes, located at land off Springfield Road and Springhill Road in Barrhead.

This site consists of former agricultural land of Netherton Farm, which forms part of the Barrhead South Masterplan and is one of the three Strategic Development Opportunities (SDO) promoted in the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan, with the capacity for around 1,000 new homes.

The planning consent for this development also includes a Section 75 Agreement that will secure financial contributions of over £2million towards the costs of education, community facilities, parks, open spaces and the Dams to Darnley Country Park. This funding will also go towards providing sustainable transport links and a commuted sum for affordable housing within East Renfrewshire.
