We give a lesson in safety to local school children in Bilston  

Bilston Primary School

Pupils from Bilston Primary School with Ian Holden (Taylor Wimpey’s Site Health and Safety Advisor.

Marking our return to Bilston, we have visited Bilston Primary School to give the children some reminders about health and safety.

As construction of new homes at our Pentland Green, off Seafield Road in Bilston is well underway and sales have now been launched, we were keen to promote the dangers associated with playing near any construction site.  The visit gave us an opportunity to raise awareness of the children’s need to be extra vigilant as the building of our new homes progress. 

Being proactive with local schools has proven an effective deterrent in the past as Martyn Campbell, Production Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland explains: “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is of vital importance to us.  Taking this type of proactive approach with local schools allows us to reinforce just how important it is for children to stay away from building sites, and it gives us the chance to remind the children that building sites are not playgrounds!”

We renew our support for Penfest 2019 at this year's Penicuik Arts Festival


We have once again shown our support to the Penicuik Arts Festival’s annual Penfest 2019 event in Penicuik by donating £450.

Our funding will go towards supporting two storytelling events for children with popular local children’s author Lea Taylor, and an adult’s workshop for creative writing for children as part of this year’s festival. Free copies of our ‘How we build your new home’ book will also be available at the storytelling events.

This year West Street Arts Centre will be the hub of PENFEST 2019 with events to suit all tastes including classical and traditional music, creative writing workshops and visual arts. Pentland Green, Phase 2, Bilston

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and Hallam Land Management plan to make a planning application to Midlothian Council for the provision of around 250 homes through the development of further land at Seafield Road in Bilston. Ahead of this, the developers held a public consultation event in September 2019 in order to keep the local community fully informed of its proposals for phase 2 of the Pentland Green development.
