Help to Buy (Scotland)
The Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Communities and Pensioners’ Rights, Mr Neil, launched the Help to Buy (Scotland) scheme on 21 January 2016.
You'll need to contribute a minimum 85% of the purchase price of a home through a combination of a mortgage and your deposit. You'll be able to obtain assistance from the Scottish Government of up to a maximum of 15% of the purchase price. The Scottish Government equity stake will be by way of shared equity agreement and second-ranking.
The maximum prices for the Help to Buy properties are as follows:
- For financial year 2016/17 for transactions completing up to 31 March 2017, the threshold price is £230,000;
- For financial year 2017/18 for transactions completing up to 31 March 2018, the threshold price is £200,000;
- For financial year 2018/19 for transactions completing up to 31 March 2019, the threshold price is £175,000;
The scheme will accept applications from applicants from 1st March 2016 onwards.
