Latitude is part of the exciting regeneration of Barry Island, a long-awaited project to bring new homes and new life to this much-loved location. These delightful new 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes will be at the heart of a vibrant new community, close to the seaside, the countryside and excellent transport links by road, rail and air.

The Quays will include a host of new local amenities for the area, including waterfront cafés and restaurants, shops including a large supermarket, a purpose built community facility, a hotel and a brand new primary school. New parks and green, open spaces will be created, with over 100 new trees, wildflower meadows and a managed wetland habitat.

The fascinating history of this area, founded on the export of nearly 10 million tons of coal a year, with hundreds of ships crowding the docks, will be commemorated with public art and history projects throughout the development. Barry Island has a long tradition as a seaside resort, with a Pleasure Park and a fine sandy beach, and it is perfectly positioned for exploring the local coastline and the South Wales countryside.

With the 'Pumphouse' currently being re developed to restaurants and a fitness club, it will certainly be a focal point on Barry Waterfront.

Just 7 miles away are the many attractions of Cardiff, with its excellent shopping, world-class arts, music and entertainment events, and International sport of all kinds. The National Museum of Wales, and the Millennium Stadium are just two of the many must-visit destinations for all the family.

Leading house builder Taylor Wimpey has inspired children at Barry Island Primary School in Barry Island to organise a walking bus to celebrate Walk to School Month.

Concerns about childhood obesity levels are rising, yet walking to school is one of the easiest ways for families to increase their level of physical activity.

As part of the nationwide awareness campaign, which runs throughout October, the reception class at Barry Island Primary School took a 'walking bus', in which they walked in a group accompanied by parents and staff, to Taylor Wimpey's nearby Latitude development at Barry Waterfront.

The leading house builder has also donated high visibility slap bands to the school to help keep children safe on their walk between school and home.

Sara Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: "Just a small amount of activity - like walking to school - can make such a difference in helping children live a healthier lifestyle and develop good habits for the rest of their lives.

" We are committed to supporting the communities in which we build out high-quality new homes, which is why we have donated the slap bands to Barry Island Primary School and were thrilled to welcome their walking bus to Latitude at Barry Waterfront.

We hope that the children enjoyed taking part and will consider making it a permanent initiative at the school."
