Interior designers spend a lifetime creating beautiful homes for other people, always searching for inspiration and innovation to develop the next top trends.
But we’re also interested to find out how designers use their wealth of experience and knowledge to decorate their own homes.
So to get more of an insight, we’re asking interior designers who put together some of our magnificent showhomes to tell us about which accessories, gadgets and furniture they love the most in their own home.
Susan White, Managing Director of Phoenix Interior Design, reveals her favourite things...
“A real fire on a cold winter night is heaven, along with a glass of wine and a TV box set.”
“I love my bathroom – it’s calm, serene and relaxing, with its vaulted ceiling and incredible views over the garden and countryside beyond.”
“I have these little men figures, which I bought years ago when travelling. They add a bit of colour to a room and I constantly move them from one surface to another to cheer things up. They still make me smile years on.”
“I can’t get enough of candles. I buy them wherever I go as they add a beautiful glow to a room and sometimes an amazing fragrance. It’s an inexpensive way to personalise a space, be it for dining, in the garden, or for a sumptuous bath.”
“I have a chandelier, which was inspired by the 1970s Sputnik Light. We are lucky to have a vaulted ceiling and therefore enough height to take such a large fitting. It is a really striking piece and has definite WOW factor when you walk in the room!”
