A Taylor Wimpey site manager from Stoke-on-Trent is celebrating after being picked as one of the five top winners of a prestigious national house-building award.
Daren Clark saw off competition from thousands of industry colleagues across the country when he was named as one of the UK’s five Supreme Winners during the NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Awards gala final.
The 44-year-old took overall victory in the Large Builder Category for his work at our Bluebell Croft development in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire.
Although this is his first Supreme title, Daren has now notched up an amazing 18 Pride in the Job Awards from the NHBC at all levels during his career, which started as an apprentice carpenter aged 16.
He said: “This award is testament to the hard work of the whole team at Bluebell Croft, who all take great pride in ensuring that the homes we build are completed to the highest possible standards.
“I was thrilled to be named as a Pride in the Job award winner earlier last year, and then progressed to win a Seal of Excellence award, followed by the Regional title – but to be named as a Supreme Winner really is something else. It is fantastic to be recognised by the industry in this way.”
Daren was originally shortlisted last year from over 13,000 site managers across the country to be honoured with an NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award.
Pride in the Job Quality Awards are presented following a stringent judging process by NHBC inspectors who perform spot checks and continuous assessment of developments throughout the year. The Quality Awards also provide homebuyers with the assurance that the development provides top-quality homes and excellent customer service.
Daniel McGowan, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, added: “We are delighted that Daren’s dedication at Bluebell Croft has been rewarded with this richly-deserved award, which recognises the fantastic work he has been doing as a Site Manager for many years.
“At Taylor Wimpey we are committed to delivering the highest levels of quality and customer service, and Daren exemplifies the exceptional standards which we strive to maintain at all of our developments across the region.”
Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide awards scheme that recognises the significant contribution of site managers who achieve the highest standards in new home construction. The scheme has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades.
