Escape to a new home thanks to Help to Buy

Date: Tuesday 11 February 2014

TW East Scotland The Scholars Dalkeith

Our series of free Help to Buy (Scotland) events has been so successful that further dates have been added to the schedule.

Prospective buyers looking to move to a new home can now find out more about how they can secure their dream move using the Scottish Government supported Help to Buy (Scotland) scheme at The Scholars in Dalkeith on 23 February and at Wester Meadow on 9 March.

The events will offer buyers an opportunity to find out how Help to Buy (Scotland) can help them to make their dream move to a new home, plus an IFA (independent financial advisor) will be available to offer free financial advice.  The events will run in each location from 12pm-4pm.

The Help to Buy (Scotland) measures include an interest-free equity loan scheme, which will be available on new build properties up to the value of £400,000, and the Scottish Government’s equity stake can be repaid at any time.

There is no salary cap for purchasers using the equity loan scheme, and it is available to both first time buyers and existing homeowners alike. Eligible purchasers will receive a Scottish Government interest-free loan of up to 20%, which means that they only need to put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage.

Karen Armstrong, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland comments:  “Help to Buy (Scotland) is available at most of our developments across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife, and we’re confident our series of informal information events is allowing buyers to familiarise themselves with the scheme and how it could work for them.

“Our initial six events have been so successful that we’ve added further dates for developments in Dalkeith to allow prospective buyers in these areas to find out more about the scheme and how it could help them to move to a new home.

“We’ve already helped a number of buyers to secure their dream home using this scheme and we’re confident these events will allow buyers to take advantage of our experience both in Help to Buy (Scotland) but the property market generally in order to make a stress-free move in 2014.”
