Children’s favourite Peruvian friend, Paddington Bear, has made a welcome return to the streets of London – more than 50 years since he took his first furry footsteps in the capital.
From 4th November to 30th December, visitors to London will be able to take the ‘Paddington Trail’ and find 50 statues of the iconic bear, as designed by artists and celebrities, displayed in some of the key hotspots and landmarks around the city.
The trail is a major initiative across London created by VisitLondon.com and Studio Canal, to mark the release of The Paddington Movie in UK cinemas on Friday 28th November. The trail will raise funds for the NSPCC’s ChildLine service
when the statues are auctioned at a later date.
We are delighted to announce that Taylor Wimpey Central London is the proud sponsor of a stunning Paddington Bear statue, located next to St Mary’s Footbridge in the city and opposite our new Paddington Exchange development.
Named ‘Bearing Up’, our statue has given Paddington Bear a velvety blue makeover – inspired by his famous blue duffel coat.
Trish Henderson, Head of Marketing and Overseas Sales at Taylor Wimpey Central London, says: “The life-size statues at three foot six inches tall will be auctioned later in the year to raise money for the NSPCC – a charity whose work is all about protecting vulnerable children and making them safe.
“We are incredibly proud to be sponsoring our very own Paddington Bear and we hope visitors enjoy the Paddington Trail.
“The Paddington Trail is a celebration of the film’s release, as well as the arts and culture that are so prominent in London as seen through the eyes of the world’s favourite and most adventurous bear!”
A number of famous faces have designed a Paddington Bear statue, including David Beckham, Emma Watson, Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry to name but a few. Stars of the new film – Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Nicole Kidman, Ben Whishaw and Peter Capaldi – have also contributed.
There’s currently a stunning collection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments available at Paddington Exchange, offering luxury living in London’s Zone 1.
