A group of our employees teamed up to fight against cancer and raise money for charity when they took part in the annual Macmillan Cancer Support Tug of War.
The event, which is now in its 29th consecutive year and has been sponsored by Taylor Wimpey since 1987, took place at the Westminster College Gardens in London on Tuesday 2nd June.
Over the years we have helped raise more than £3 million for Macmillan Cancer Support by sponsoring the event, and this year, staff from our Bristol, East Anglia and South Wales business units all pulled together to show their support!
Taylor Wimpey’s Sarah Moran, who took part in the event, says: “Cancer is something that affects the lives of so many people and so we are incredibly proud to have taken part in the annual tug of war to raise funds for such a worthy cause.
“It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves on the day and we hope the money raised will make a real difference.”
Crowds of people gathered to watch the event, which also included matches between rival city firms, industry giants, armed forces and fire crews, plus the main spectacle between members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
Speaking after the event, Simon Phillips, Director of Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support, says: “It’s been fantastic – the competition tough, the laughter loud and the incredibly generous donations are going to go a long way in helping Macmillan make sure no one faces cancer alone.”
