The 21st annual Christmas Street Fair in Didcot is set to be bigger and better than ever, after we provided the event with a cash boost!
We donated £1,000 towards the popular festive event and the money has been used to print some 5,000 information programmes.
Organiser Jeanette Howse, who started the Didcot Christmas Street Fair back in 1993, says: “We are always looking for new opportunities and new ways to raise money for the fair as it costs around £18,000 to £20,000 to put the event on each year.
“That’s why we are so grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation because every bit really does help!”
Over the past two decades, Didcot Christmas Street Fair has grown from a small shopping evening to become the highlight of the town’s calendar, filling the streets with a host of stalls, fairground rides, refreshments and entertainers.
This year’s celebration will take place on Thursday 27th November between 4pm and 9pm, with attractions in Broadway and the Orchard Centre, and Santa Claus making a very special appearance in the Methodist Hall throughout the event. A Grand Parade will start at 7pm from the Orchard Centre heading towards the Civic Hall.
Jeanette says: “We try to keep everything local and get local people involved – and we always make sure there’s something for everyone.”
Attractions for this year’s fair include a Red Arrow simulator, Noddy’s car, a Williams F1 car, a stage with local bands plus a funfair for all to enjoy and much, much more!
Jeannette says: “I started the Christmas Street Fair 21 years ago because I wanted to raise the morale in Didcot and since then it has got bigger and better each and every year.”
We are currently building high-quality homes at our Atrium and Great Western Park developments in Didcot.
