Our Midlands regional team has given an apprentice the opportunity to build a career in site management by learning on the job at new developments across the region.
Josh Wilson, 23, started his career with us six years ago as an NVQ Level 2 Carpentry apprentice, after completing his Level 1 qualification at Stratford College. Keen to use the skills he had acquired to contribute to a large company, Josh applied to Taylor Wimpey after hearing good things about the housebuilder’s opportunities for career progression. After working hard to complete his HNC in Construction and the Built Environment, Josh is now using his skills as an Assistant Site Manager at the Wheatfield Manor development in Codsall.
Josh said: “I’ve been so impressed with the support that has been on offer to me during my time at Taylor Wimpey. From the very beginning of my journey to graduating with my HNC last year, I’ve been encouraged to be the best I can be. Through every aspect of my work - both educational and practical - my achievements have been acknowledged and I really feel like Taylor Wimpey are proud to have me as a member of staff.”
Anne Wallace, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “Showing our appreciation for the hard work that our staff do is so important to us, and we’re so proud of Josh and everything he does over at Wheatfield Manor. Our apprenticeships are designed to give the right balance between classroom learning and hands-on experience, ensuring our trainees are best placed to be offered a permanent opportunity after their studies.”
