Development naming competition winners revealed in Kilwinning

Date: Thursday 22 October 2020

As part of a local community engagement project, our Willow Gardens developments in Kilwinning was named following a challenge earlier this year for school children at nearby Abbey Primary School to create a name for the development that reflected the character of the local area.

This week the winners of the competition - Kaitlyn Wilson now in P6/7 and Lewis Elliot now in 1st year at Kilwinning Academy - revealed the first signage for Willow Gardens where pre-construction is well underway.
Both children won £50 book tokens, which they received earlier this year, and we also donated £250 to school funds.

Andrew Falconer, Principal Teacher at Abbey Primary said:  “We are very happy that both Kaitlyn and Lewis have had the opportunity to make their mark locally by naming Taylor Wimpey’s development, and we are also delighted with the additional school donation of £250.  Our plan is to use this money to buy maths games to enhance the maths and numeracy curriculum in school.”

Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland adds: “It is incredibly important to us to get involved in the local communities in which we build, and we are delighted to confirm the name of our development  - Willow Gardens - combines the best of two competition entries from Kaitlyn and Lewis, and we are looking forward to creating a development that will from part of the existing local community and be a great place to call home.”
