South Lanarkshire Council has granted us planning permission to deliver 612 homes as part of our masterplan vision for Newton Farm in Cambuslang, Scotland.
The development will consist of five individual phases of new homes and each one will offer a choice of two, three, and four-bedroom homes in a variety of styles and sizes to appeal to a range of potential buyers.
Newton Farm will embrace the Scottish planning guidance principles of ‘Designing Streets’ which aims to create varied streetscapes and spaces, and will include features such as focal points within many of the street scenes.
Character areas with landscaping will be a real asset to the overall feel of this development and will create social spaces that are accessible for both pedestrians and vehicles. Within this development there will also be an equipped play area which will form an attractive and fun place for children to play.
Newton Farm is a multi-million pound masterplan development that is situated within a South Lanarkshire Council ‘Community Growth Area’ which is an area that has been designated for housing and associated infrastructure.
As part of the masterplan, we will provide a new primary school complete with 3G sports pitch and retail space, plus infrastructure improvements which will include new cycle-ways and off-site roadworks, as well as further play areas which will be delivered at varying stages as the wider development is constructed.
Stephen Andrew, Associate Technical Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, says: “We are delighted to confirm that detailed planning consent has been granted for part of our land at Newton Farm. This marks our ongoing commitment, investment and strong track record of delivering excellent quality developments in South Lanarkshire.
“Our role in the creation of Newton Farm, and our plan to embrace the ‘Designing Streets’ planning guidance, will continue our aim to deliver an attractive and desirable place to live within the Newton Farm area of South Lanarkshire. And our latest planning consent marks significant progress for the overall Newton Farm masterplan, as well as our commitment to build new homes there.
“Our first release of properties in this part of the development will consist of 122 new homes offering a choice of two, three, and four-bedroom styles. We expect these to be on sale in the spring of this year, and we anticipate that the first homebuyers will move into this phase of the development towards the end of 2015.
“As part of our approach to the overall development masterplan, we will update the local community as the timescales for the aspects of the wider development such as the new school with 3-G sports pitch, play areas and key infrastructure works, emerge.
“Taylor Wimpey is one of the largest homebuilders in the UK, helping to create new homes and communities across the country. We want to continue to make a positive contribution to the existing local community of Newton Farm in Cambuslang as our development progresses, and we’re delighted to play our role in the delivery of the overall masterplan vision as it becomes a reality.”
