We’re delighted to pay tribute to one of our longest-serving members of staff, who has just notched up 35 years on the company’s books.

Garden maintenance worker Roman Sekula spends his days keeping landscaped areas and showhome gardens in tip-top condition at our developments throughout the East Midlands region, having started out as a labourer back in January 1980.

The Nottingham-based 54 year-old has been rewarded for his long service with a special gift of a brand new television – as well as a heartfelt thank-you from Dominic Harman, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey East Midlands.

“The success of any organisation is built on the quality of its people, and over the years Roman has helped to provide the solid foundations which have enabled this business to thrive,” says Dominic.

“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Roman on reaching this milestone in his career and I would very much like to thank him on behalf of everyone at Taylor Wimpey East Midlands for everything he’s done for us over the years.

“In this day and age it’s rare to hear of such commitment and loyalty from one person to a single company, so for Roman to clock up 35 years of service is an achievement that really is worth celebrating.

“At Taylor Wimpey we are committed to developing our staff and giving them all the support, training and encouragement they need to enjoy long and successful careers. It’s wonderful to see this investment in people rewarded with such dedicated service.”

Roman joined Taylor Wimpey, then known as George Wimpey, as a 19 year-old trainee. His duties initially involved labouring in the depot yard and colleagues from the early days describe him as a “hard-working lad” who was always willing to help out – and even learned to drive so that he could take on more jobs.

Today, Roman’s role involves travelling around Taylor Wimpey developments in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire, maintaining the landscaped areas as well as the gardens outside the Sales Centres and showhomes.
