Our East Scotland regional business has launched its search for applicants to its site management apprenticeship scheme for this year.
Last year, we created a three year development course which is second to none within the industry. The course is up to three years long and gives candidates the opportunity to spend time across all areas of the business, to gain an in-depth knowledge of site management, achieve a relevant vocational qualification, and an appointment to Assistant Site Manager on successful completion of the course.
One of last year’s apprentice site managers is Kenny Gorman (pictured above), who has just completed his first year on the scheme. He is currently based at our Calderwood development in East Calder.
Kenny said: “I’m thrilled to have completed my first year of the site management apprentice scheme.
“I’ve learned so much since I started, and not just about site management – I’ve been involved in other departments including a spell in our Commerical department understanding how the ordering system works and how this links to what happens on our sites.
“It’s given me a huge amount of confidence, and I’m really looking forward to my second year on the course, and ultimately aiming towards an Assistant Site Management position.”
Ewan Robertson, Production Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, says: “We have a long history of successfully developing trade apprentices, and we’re now looking to employ talented individuals to become our future driving force in site management.
“Our course offers candidates the opportunity to learn first-hand across our mix of departments. They receive training in all aspects of site management, and they gain experience in our wide range of office functions including Technical, Commercial, Land and Planning, Sales, Finance and Customer Service.
“We’re clear that to deliver a quality range of new homes for our customers, our site managers must have a solid understanding of our whole business, and our apprentice site manager scheme aims to deliver this.
“We would like to hear from high-calibre, positive and enthusiastic individuals from a variety of backgrounds. You’ll need a minimum of 2 Highers or ‘A’ levels (grade A-C) or equivalent vocational qualification, and demonstrate that you have drive, commitment and a determination to succeed.”
