Our astrological guide to show how the stars could shape your home and tastes

Do our star signs determine the kinds of homes we choose, determine the way we decorate or influence the style of furniture we buy? Here’s our astrological guide to show how the stars could shape your home and tastes.

Virgo (23 August-22 September)

Virgos don’t like spending money unnecessarily but still like quality items in their homes. Naturals at DIY, they are good at repairing and renovating. Many Virgos work from home but can be surprisingly untidy.

Libra (23 September-23 October)

Very creative, Librans sometimes express themselves through highly imaginative DIY work, while others create beautiful gardens. In keeping with the sign of the scales, Librans tend to live very well indeed – or in squalid circumstances.

Scorpio (24 October-21 November)

Scorpios have a sentimental attachment to their homes, possessions and the past, preferring to hang on to old favourites rather than buy new items. They tend to spend more on eating and drinking than their home, although they like books and music.

Sagittarius (22 November-21 December)

Many Sagittarians start off carefree but develop the desire for a good and stable home. They will save and work hard to buy quality furniture and fittings and keep their homes tidy and well-maintained. Books tend to be their best-loved possessions.

Capricorn (22 December-19 January)

Capricorns like to invest in bricks and mortar – with as much land as they can afford – and won’t allow a property to fall into disrepair. They like good quality possessions provided they offer value for money. Capricorns don’t spend much time at home.

Aquarius (20 January-18 February)

Some Aquarians live in clean ultra-modern apartments while others prefer rambling old houses filled with children and animals. All Aquarians seem to collect books and bits of paper, some collect antiques, junk or animals, others weird and wonderful possessions.

Pisces (19 February-20 March)

Pisceans tend to have spiritual rather than material values but they still like somewhere nice to live, preferably with a garden. After drifting for a while, they do try to maintain a place of their own, even if they are not always there.

Aries (21 March-19 April)

Arians are keen shoppers – and hoarders – which is often reflected in their cluttered homes and bulging wardrobes. Some also spend a fortune on the latest gadgets and gizmos. They love gardening and growing indoor plants and are very practical DIYers.

Taurus (20 April-20 May)

Many Taureans are gifted amateur builders and gardeners who make their homes attractive and comfortable, without splashing the cash. They are not keen on second-hand goods and prefer new and valuable possessions.

Gemini (21 May-21 June)

Geminian homes are generally clean and tidy – but they prefer to employ someone else to do the dirty work. As far as décor and furniture is concerned, they will buy the best they can afford and then live with it for years.

Cancer (22 June-22 July)

Cancerians love their homes. While they enjoy travel they need a place of their own – preferably mortgage-free. They enjoy speculating on property and might own more than one place. Keen collectors, they are also DIY enthusiasts.

Leo (23 July-22 August)

Leos develop sentimental attachments to belongings and surroundings, preferring to buy a house for the long term. They like a large and comfortable home but, because they are not materialistic, it’s unlikely to be filled with the latest goods and gadgets.
