Saying thanks to frontline staff with our Care Worker Discount

Date: Thursday 10 September 2020

As a thank you for the incredible work of NHS and care support workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched our Care Worker Discount in May. Since then, over 1,500 people have benefitted from the scheme and saved 5% on the purchase price of a new Taylor Wimpey home. We’re delighted to have been able to help so many of our customers who play such a vital role in our communities.

Emma De Abreaw Rajapakse, an NHS worker from Bracknell, recently purchased a home at our Croft Gardens development with her husband Antonio. Emma said: “I think it’s fantastic that Taylor Wimpey created this scheme for care workers to recognise the work we’ve done throughout this particularly challenging year - it really makes you feel appreciated and supported.”

Humberto de Matos, a registered nurse, is buying a new home at our Riverside Walk development in Exeter with his wife Joana, a dentist, and their six-month-old son. Humberto said: “The 5% Care Worker Discount really means a lot as a gesture of recognition for the work I and other nurses and healthcare professionals do every day and night of the year. To have a building company that appreciates our role in society by offering such a discount is a real testament to its values.”

NHS worker Liz, and her partner Alison are looking forward to moving to a three-bedroom home at our Sewell Meadow development in Old Catton with their two children Dilan and Alessandro. Liz said: “We’ve both been working on the frontline at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital throughout the pandemic. When the sales executives at Sewell Meadow called us to explain that we were eligible for a 5% Care Worker Discount, we couldn’t quite believe it! Buying a new home wouldn’t have been possible for us without the discount. It means a great deal to be recognised for the work we do everyday and we can’t wait until we move into our new home.”
