Our Midlands business unit, which is currently building high-quality new homes at Haycop Rise in the town, donated £500 towards the construction of a new dugout, as AFC Broseley look to improve their facilities ahead of the new season.
The club have applied to join the National Football League system for the 2016-17 season and, if successful, will be placed in Division Two of the West Midlands Regional League, having previously played in the Mercian League Premier Division.
The club play their home games at Birchmeadow Park, a public recreational facility that is also used by a running club and Broseley Youth FC.
Mark Garbett, chairman of AFC Broseley and a Trustee of the park, says: “We’re making improvements to the ground in order to meet the regulations of the new league we wish to join, and part of this will include putting in a couple of covered seating areas that will serve as dugouts for football teams and a nice sheltered place to sit for people using the park, such as dog walkers.
“The existing dugouts we have are dilapidated and too small for the new league, so we thought it’d be nice to have a permanent feature for the whole community in the park to use, with comfortable fold-down seats so people can sit and look out over the park and keep out of the rain.
“I contacted Taylor Wimpey to see if they’d be able to help and it’s awesome that they came back to us with their generous donation. We’re raising money for two new dugouts and we’re going to name one of them the ‘Taylor Wimpey dugout’!
“Broseley Youth FC and a local running club also use the park so they’ll also benefit from it, as will users of the whole park. We’re only a small club so donations like this are great for us – we’d like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for helping us out.”
Anne Wallace, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, says: “As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, so we were delighted to make this donation to one of the new dugouts at Birchmeadow Park.
“We hope everyone enjoys using the new facilities at the park, and of course we wish AFC Broseley all the best for the new season ahead.”
There’s currently a selection of three and four‑bedroom homes available at Haycop Rise.
