Our South Wales business unit has granted a wish for Redhouse Performance Academy in Merthyr Tydfil, by providing a cash boost towards its annual pantomime performance.
Our team, which is currently building high-quality homes at our Cwrt Anuerin Bevan development on the outskirts of the town, has donated £500 to the stage school to cover the costs of costumes for the 35 children taking part in this year’s performance of Aladdin. The children will be joining a full, professional adult cast for the performances.
Catherine Jones, coordinator for Redhouse Performance Academy, says: “We have got a lot of children taking part in the show this year so the costume bill was looking quite costly.
“Taylor Wimpey have been absolutely fantastic in supporting us and this £500 donation has been a massive help – without it we would have had to do a lot more fundraising.”
Redhouse Performance Academy was set up in September 2015 and forms part of Redhouse, an arts and creative industries centre based at the newly refurbished Old Town Hall.
This is the third time we have offered our support to the school, having donated twice previously to the tune of £900.
“We reached out to Taylor Wimpey again this year because they have been so supportive in the past,” continues Catherine.
“As a brand new academy it has been a big help to have their backing as we continue to build from the ground upwards.”
This year’s production of Aladdin will showcase twice daily, with a matinee performance at 2.30pm and an evening show at 7pm.
“Aladdin is a really fun show which is suitable for the whole family,” Catherine adds. “There are lots of pop songs and musical songs and we have got a full professional adult cast who are working alongside the children – for many of our younger performers this will be their first time on stage!
“We’d like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for choosing to support us again with this donation – we are extremely grateful.”
Sara Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, says: “We’re delighted to be able to offer a helping hand to Redhouse Performance Academy once again, as they continue to grow and become a major part of the local community in Merthyr Tydfil.
“We would like to wish everyone involved in the show the very best of luck for the upcoming performances.”
Redhouse Performance Academy’s Aladdin will be showing until Saturday 24th December at the Old Town Hall. Tickets cost £10 per adult or £8 for concessions, while family tickets are also available for £32.
Children who are interested in joining Redhouse Performance Academy can contact the school by calling 01685 384111 or visiting www.redhousecymru.com.
There’s a fantastic range of three and four bedroom properties currently available at Cwrt Aneurin Bevan.
