Ten lucky children at Cumwhinton Primary School, in Carlisle, have been treated to a special book reading event hosted by Taylor Wimpey North East to mark the opening of the Milldale show home at its The Coppice development.

Carlisle author, Jennifer Clark, read a copy of her popular children’s book ‘The Bad-Tempered Dragon’ to the Year Three pupils, who were chosen after taking part in a competition to colour their own dragons.

The reading was hosted in the bedroom of the show home, which has been inspired by the much-loved book, making the storytelling event extra special for the pupils.

Kath Mitchell, head teacher at Cumwhinton Primary School, comments: “This has been a lovely way of encouraging the joy of reading in the children and celebrating local talent at the same time.

“The children all really enjoyed Jennifer’s story and, who knows, they may even be inspired to write their own book one day!”

Visitors to The Coppice will now be able to have a look around the three-bedroom Milldale and get a feel of what life would be like living at the desirable development.

The Coppice offers house hunters a range of two- to four-bedroom homes just one mile from the stunning scenery of the Lake District. The historical centre of Carlisle and its selection of convenient amenities are also just a ten-minute drive away.

Families will be able to make the most of the choice of excellent local schools, and vast amount of green spaces that have been incorporated into the development’s design.

Karl Morton, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North East, adds: “At Taylor Wimpey, giving back to the communities in which we build is one of our highest priorities, so we are delighted that both Jennifer and Cumwhinton Primary School were able to join us for such a special event.”

Kath concludes: “We would like to extend a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for inviting us along, and look forward to collaborating with them again soon.”
