Parents who run a successful baby and toddler group in Southmoor, Oxfordshire, are celebrating after they received a £500 donation to buy new equipment and toys.
Our team at Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire donated the money to Southmoor Baby and Toddler Group after Secretary Rachel Skeet asked for a helping hand.
Rachel explains: “I sent a letter to Taylor Wimpey with the hope of gaining some funds to buy new resources for our group.
“I asked for £500 in my letter but I never expected to get that much – so when Taylor Wimpey agreed to donate the full amount we were delighted!”
The money will be used to buy brand new equipment and toys for the youngsters who attend the group each week.
For the babies that will include bouncy chairs, sensory toys and a light projector, while for the toddlers (up to five years old) the money will go towards a sand and water tray, a toy work bench, craft materials and tricycles. Part of the donation will also be used to restore and repair the group’s dolls house.
Rachel continues: “Having this donation will make an enormous difference to the group. It will enable us to buy toys and equipment that we need – without the money we would not be able to afford it.”
Southmoor Baby and Toddler Group is a parent-led organisation that has been running for more than 30 years in the village. The group meets once a week at the village hall and relies on fundraising to keep going – so donations like ours are a big help.
Rachel adds: “We’d like to say a sincere thank you to Taylor Wimpey for helping us to make improvements to our facilities. Without such support it makes it much harder to survive.”
Nikki Gibson, Associate Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, says: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, and our donation to Southmoor Baby and Toddler Group is a great example of how we can help.
“We’re glad to have been able to offer something to the group to support the fantastic work that they do, and we hope the new toys and equipment are enjoyed by young children in the village both now and in the future.”
Southmoor Grange in Southmoor currently offers a choice of four and five-bedroom homes.
