Banbury Rugby Club secured a sponsorship deal with us that made this year’s annual Mini Festival event a winner.
Our Oxfordshire team, which is currently building high-quality homes at our Longford Park development in Banbury, donated £1,000 to the club to fund 40 trophies and shields that were awarded at the festival, which took place on Sunday 13th March.
Over 138 rugby teams travelled from far and wide to enter the event, with approximately 1,800 children competing in six different age groups.
Simeon Crowther, head coach of the U12s team at Banbury Rugby Club and vice chair of the youth section, says: “We always have a great turnout at the event, with around 5,000 people there this year.
“As well as the rugby tournament, the festival also featured barbeques, tuck shops and cake stalls with produce sourced from local suppliers, plus a raffle and various games and attractions for spectators.”
The event takes place every year at Banbury Rugby Club in Bodicote Park, and requires around five months to prepare.
“We approached Taylor Wimpey for their support as they are now our neighbours with the Longford Park development located just next door,” continues Simeon. “It’s a huge undertaking for the club but it’s one of the more highly regarded mini rugby festivals in the region.
“We have competitions for teams ranging from U7s to U12s, and Taylor Wimpey’s donation has enabled us to provide even more trophies than ever before.
“We normally fund the event from a combination of entry fees, programme and food sales and sponsorship, so Taylor Wimpey’s donation made a huge difference to the event. Their name was also engraved on this year’s trophies.
“The minis section of Banbury Rugby Club would like to express their gratitude for Taylor Wimpey’s support and we hope to be able to work with them in the future.
“In the U7 to U11s age category there were 20 winners’ trophies up for grabs, so there was plenty to play for.”
Nikki Gibson, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, says: “We were delighted to show our support for Banbury Rugby Club, which plays a key role in the local community and does an excellent job each year of organising this fantastic event.
“We’re glad the club enjoyed competing in the festival!”
There’s a range of one-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom houses currently available at Longford Park.
