SM - Buckingham Park School Fun Run

Buckingham Park Church of England Primary School in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, received a helping hand from our South Midlands team to fund its first ever Buckingham Park Fun Run event!

We donated £500 to the school to cover the costs of medals for those who participated in its fundraiser, which took place at the school on Sunday 15th May.

Nick Waldron, head teacher at Buckingham Park Church of England Primary School, says: “This is the first time we organised the Buckingham Park Fun Run event and our aim was to raise funds to support projects at the school.

“The money we raised will be used to support our fantastic PTA group, which has most recently fundraised for a landscaping development carried out at the school. We’ve built a new pond area in the grounds which is a quiet and thoughtful place for our pupils to spend time.

“The funds we raised from the fun run will help to continue developing that project and also help to cover the costs of swimming trips for our pupils.”

Our donation was used to pay for medals that were awarded to everyone who completed the course.

“The fun run was a great event for everyone,” continues Nick. “The younger pupils did a couple of laps round the schools grounds while the older children and families did laps around Taylor Wimpey’s nearby Buckingham Park development.

“Everyone was invited to take part – walkers, joggers and people with pushchairs! There was also a barbecue and a bouncy castle, so it was something the whole family could enjoy.”

We offered to support the fun run after the school appealed to us for support.

Nick adds: “We’d like to say thanks to Taylor Wimpey for their support – by helping us cover the costs of hosting an event like this it took away some of the risk, as we were still able to raise money and not just break even.

“It was such a positive thing for Taylor Wimpey to do and it’s helping to build a community here. The PTA was delighted to receive this donation, and as most families at the school live at the new development it was a really nice thing for them to do.”

Gareth Jacob, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We feel it’s extremely important to support the communities in which we build our new homes, and what better cause than to invest in local schools and help improve facilities.

“We’re delighted that the Buckingham Park Fun Run was such a success!”
