We’ve given a local school cheerleading squad in Suffolk a helping hand by donating £500 towards new kit.
The cash boost will help provide the cheerleaders at Sybil Andrews Academy in Bury St Edmunds with 14 brand new custom-made uniforms.
Taylor Wimpey is the squad’s first official sponsor and our logo will be emblazoned on the skirt section of the uniforms, which have each been made to measure from a black Lycra and mesh blend encrusted with gold sparkles.
Rhian Earrye, PE Teacher and Cheerleading Coach at Sybil Andrews Academy, says: “On behalf of the entire cheerleading squad, their families, and myself, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Taylor Wimpey for this fantastic donation.
“Without the donation we probably wouldn’t even have uniforms. It’s always very expensive for parents to buy them and we didn’t want to get something which looked outdated.
“Taylor Wimpey let me pick a timeless black design including a leotard, straps, and skirt, as well as allowing each uniform to be custom-fitted to each squad member.
“The girls feel incredibly professional wearing their new kit so they put more effort in their routines, which is fantastic for when we compete nationally.”
Sybil Andrews Academy Cheerleading Squad practise for two hours every week at the school’s sports centre. The squad was established by Miss Earrye who after cheerleading at university noticed that the activity – which combines gymnastics and dance – would be a new way of encouraging students to become more active.
Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “We are delighted to sponsor Sybil Andrews Academy Cheerleading Squad and to support more young people in sport by donating towards the squad’s new uniforms.
“We hope they enjoy training in their new bespoke uniforms and we wish them the best of luck for their future competitions.”
