Our regional East Anglia office has lent a helping hand to a 16-year-old from Attleborough, Norfolk, as she gets ready for an amazing adventure!

Wymondham College student Chelsea Collinson has signed up to take part in an educational expedition to Costa Rica and Nicaragua which has been organised by World Challenge.

In order to make the journey, Chelsea needs to raise £4,000, and we have donated £200 to help with her fundraising efforts.

She says: “World Challenge is a non-profit organisation so I have to raise all of the money myself. Having Taylor Wimpey’s support will make a huge difference to me getting one step closer to my goal and every time I go past their Grosvenor Park development it will remind me of my expedition – I am really grateful for their support.”

World Challenge designs trips to help students develop important life skills, including travelling overseas, organising transportation, meal budgeting and planning, arranging accommodation and working alongside local people.

Chelsea will head off on the month-long journey on Wednesday 29th July alongside a team of 30 people from Wymondham College. During the trip the group will trek for up to two weeks through Nicaragua to Costa Rica (visiting a volcanic island and climbing a 75m waterfall on the way) whilst carrying their possessions, bedding, tent and food in a rucksack. They will then spend time working in a local community to help re-build a school as well as taking part in conservation, construction and teaching.

Chelsea says: “I wanted to take part in the World Challenge trip because it will give me the opportunity to challenge myself physically, experience new places and cultures, and have the chance to help other schoolchildren who are less fortunate than I am.

“I am really looking forward to seeing the local people’s reaction when we help to repair their school. I hope to come back with more independence and self-reliance.”

Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “When we heard about Chelsea’s World Challenge expedition we were only too happy to offer our support and help her in her fundraising mission.

“We’d like to wish Chelsea the very best of luck as she continues to raise money and we look forward to hearing all about the trip when she gets back.”

There’s a superb selection of three, four and five-bedroom homes currently on sale at Grosvenor Park.
