Barnsley residents are showing their community spirit by pulling together to raise funds to improve the much-loved Penny Pie Park in Pogmoor, with a community gala taking place on Sunday 6th September.
Our regional business unit Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire – which is currently building high-quality homes at our Kingstone Grange development in Barnsley – has lent its support to the public event which will run from 11am to 3pm.
The Penny Pie Park community gala will feature entertainment from the local Sea Cadets and a dog show run by Royston Animal Welfare Charity, and visitors can also expect to see various stalls, fairground rides, ponies, a tombola, sweet treats and refreshments.
Karl Edwards, Penny Pie Park Community Group treasurer, comments: “From our upcoming fundraising event we are hoping to raise funds to assist with additional planting and flowerbeds, and to provide additional seating and a focal point within the park.
“Thanks to a generous contribution from Taylor Wimpey, we can now promote the event more widely, which will hopefully encourage more visitors on the day itself.”
Anne Bagshaw, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, says: “When we heard about the community gala, we were delighted to be given the chance to get involved and offer a helping hand.
“Penny Pie Park is of great importance to the local community who share a great spirit, and with our Kingstone Grange development nearby, we are sure many of our residents will make use of the park for many years to come.”
Karl concludes: “We are extremely excited for the gala and we can’t wait to bring the community together to raise funds for a project that is close to many of our hearts.
“Thank you again to Taylor Wimpey. With their support we will now be able to enhance the park for future generations to enjoy just as much as we do now!”
Kingstone Grange currently offers a range of three-bedroom homes.
