The committee behind Bodfest, an annual community music festival run for residents in Bodicote, Oxfordshire, has been given a helping hand to buy power generators for the event with a donation from Taylor Wimpey.
We donated £1,500 to the Bodfest Committee to support this year’s event, which will take place on Saturday 12th July.
Glen Griffin, chairman of the Bodfest Committee, says: “The donation from Taylor Wimpey is fantastic and will help us to buy two generators, which will be a great help for Bodfest.
“The generators will also be made available to local community groups throughout the year, so local groups like the Scouts will also be able to benefit from the donation.
“We get a lot of support from villagers for Bodfest and everyone looks forward to it. Last year we had in excess of 3,000 people come along throughout the event.”
Bodfest, which aims to bring arts, crafts, food and music to Bodicote, is run as a not-for-profit organisation. Funds generated go towards covering the costs of the event and any additional money raised is donated to charity. Last year Bodfest donated money to good causes including the Katharine House Hospice near Banbury.
This year Bodfest will boast three music stages – the main stage at the Horse and Jockey pub, an acoustic stage at The Plough, and a third stage at The Spice Room – as well as a family arena and open mic sessions.
Glen says: “Bodfest gives bands the opportunity to play to a large audience, and this year we have more than 40 bands performing, so there will be music playing constantly throughout the village from 11am to 11pm.
“The idea is that it’s a family event aimed at getting all of the villagers together, so there will be plenty going on throughout the village, including market stalls and events in the family arena.”
Darren McCormack, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build, so we were only too pleased to offer our support to the Bodfest Committee.
“Events such as Bodfest really help to bring communities together and I hope villagers in Bodicote have a great day at this summer’s festival.”
We are currently building new homes at Longford Park in Bodicote.
